Give a listen to the new "Tony Bennett - Duets" album - really good big band stuff and all the standards - Elton, John, Stevie Wonder and others singing along...very nice if you like this music genre...

Brian Setzer does a version of "Baby It's Cold Outside" with Ann Margaret, which is just effing HOT!

Great vocals, sighing, and guitar work too..... with that nice big band sound behind 'em. Yeah, I dig Ann Margaret, I said it, so what !

Thanks for the info, Glenn - 'ain't NObody that belts out a song and has the style and class of Tony B.!

Yeah, I often spout off about some weird music that I like, by a weird band, with a weird sound - but I ALWAYS look forward to seeing Tony on TV doing holiday music or ANY of his "standards"!

I'll make sure I pick up that CD!

Regards,

I'd take Tony Bennett straight up without the side kicks.

I'd take Tony Bennett straight up without the side kicks.

then "Unplugged" is what you want....outstanding album with one or two duets...his best selling album to date....

Thanks for the heads-up Glen. That's good stuff. Always enjoyed Bennett, Sinatra, and some others of that era. But there's a new guy that is sure to be included on the list of great male vocalists, by the name of Michael Buble'. If you get a chance to listen to him, I am sure you would enjoy. PBS taped one of his concerts which my daughter gave me for a BD present, and I really enjoyed it.

Michael Buble is also a favorite.... and he does a duet with Tony on track #9.....but if you want to see the best contemporary big band it's "The New York Big Band Concert" DVD by Harry Connick - the master at this stuff....

IMO as good as Connick Jr. is, he still doesn't ring the bell like my favorites from Bennett, Sinatra, Martin and Hope. My appreciation for their music comes from the volume of time I spent sitting in a doctor's office when I was young waiting to get an allergy shot. You guys call the music the big band sound, I call it doctor office music or elevator music.

I don't know Glen, I hear what you are saying, but I spent an awwwwwffffffffuuuuuuuulllllllllll long time in doctor office waiting rooms! Maybe the doctors I was visiting had class! Either way in my case, I know that is where my appreciation comes from....hence why I call it doctor office music. Make no mistake, I LOVE THE STUFF and have much in my personal collection!!!
