Default Bait table blood control

Theese rod holder bait tables are great. They are well made and last forever. But the slot in the back allows all the blood to drain down all over my transom and logo. Some days of heavy bottom fishing I spend more time cleaning the transom then the rest of the boat.
So I thought about it and came up with a piece of 2 inch pvc with a slot cut in it and end caps to bring the blood to a tube and then overboard

This wasn’t from a bottom fishing day

Barbed nipple with goop sealant so it can be removed and enlarged if needed

Complete system with clean out on port side

Probably works, but I believe I would just rather use the washdown pump vs. having to keep that thing unclogged and cleaned up long term?

no time for wash down when we bottom fish. Bait is being cut non stop for 8 hours And no one wants to stop fishing

Good Idea. I would have made it a little different and used a small length of 3/4" garden hose with nylon ends on it. Larger diameter would drain better, the heavier hose would hang down better, and when you finish you could hook it up to a spigot and back flush it.

I have been designing something like that in my mind for a few years. I hate the squid stains on my transom and there is no getting it out once dried. I am going to make my own out of starboard and the back will be a V that goes into a large hose then over the engine welL. I like your solution and may resort to it if/when my project fails horribly.

That looks neat. I'm also in the process of having to redesign my bait table
Your bait board is a bit small but you can cutout a 3" sink drain and add a flexible drain 1.25" hose or PVC underneath and have it extend down the transom. That drain tube looks like it could clog easily.
Cool to see what people come up with for the "blood and guts" problem. I will try to post my setup on a new thread.

We put a fresh coat of Woodywax or Fluid film around the cutting area the night before a trip. A couple quick sprays of raw water during the day and the cockpit stays clean. No scrubbing and no staining.

We dont drink alcohol when fishing, but I have to remember to drink water before I get the headache. Ive held my piss for hours when the bite is onfire.

Sorry to reactivate this thread since it's about a year old but how did you connect the PVC tube to the board? Is it removable?

Would have been nice to use NEW pipe instead of crappy old pipe.

sorry I should have given that detail in the original thread. Two hex head stainless screw are driven through the cutting board sides in both corners so they extend into the pipe and lock it on

Thanks for replying! Pardon my stupid follow up but what is that screw going into on the other side? Is it going into the wall of the PVC or into one of those caps?

neither , it’s just sliding in along the side of the pipe cap to lock it in place. Its been on there now for hundreds of hours it hasn’t loosened. It simple to hose off at the end of the day. If you just shoot some water into the slot in the tables it. CLears any solids that might be trapped and water flows freely out of the nipple. should have posted a picture of the 90 degree slot I cut lengthwise and removed from side of pipe.

I had Johel from ServiXe build me an awesome bait table with a built in drain. It works amazing. No more squid ink or blood all over my transom. I just hooked some bilge hose to it and run that over the engine well so all ink/blood/guts goes right overboard.
