Default Appalachian State

I know that they are playing for the NCAA Division 1-AA championship again this year but they really ought to be playing OSU for the national championship. Here's the reasoning.

The # 1 ranked Ohio State Buckeyes (12-0) will meet the Florida Gators (12-1) on 1/08/07 in the national championship college football game instead of playing the Appalachian State Mountaineers for the title. Huh? Note that Appalachian State beat Montana State, who beat Colorado, who beat Iowa State, who beat Missouri, who beat Mississippi, who beat Vanderbilt, who beat Georgia, who beat Auburn, who handed Florida their only loss of the 2006 season (source: NCAA).

Shag, I forwarded your comments on to my in-laws. They are all ASU grads and most grew up and still live in Boone, NC. This will certainly bring some Holiday Cheer to their homes.

Uh, lets see now. AppState just won the NCAA Division 1-AA Championship for the second year. If Florida wins, refer to the above.

Congratulations to AppState. !!!!!

For some that may not know the senior members of the squad have never lost a game at home
(THE ROCK) in their college career

Great to see App State win the championship. Armanti Edwards is a local boy (Greenwood SC) and my son played against him in high school, great athelete.

Congrats to APP STATE

I am a UMass alum but I certainly respect the Appalachian State football program, depite their victory over UMass in '06. They have forged a real dynasty in those NC hills.

Thanks for bringing it back, have to keep up with App State and their QB Edwards, still shaking my head on him and why some of our local D-1 schools (Clemson, South Carolina, UGA, UNC, NC State, UGA) did not try and recruit him. One of if not the most talented high school football player I have seen in the last few years.

Good luck to App State in the rest of the playoffs
