I guess up north they're called Crackle Barrels. Down south they're called Cracker Barrels.

When the seas don't allow fishing, my wife and I visit the store about 3 miles away. The usual is to share a Sunrise Sampler with one extra egg. With coffee it is about $11+tip for the best Southern comfort food around. I do wish they would work on their gravy rceipe.

I refuse to wait over 15 minutes for a table so we have to get the timing right.

I am glad it is not on theway to work. It would be hard to pass everyday without stopping.

They're great. They are one of the few places that I can go and eat a safe meal! I have what is known as 'Celiac' (gluten intolerance), and can't have anything with even a trace of wheat flour, rye, oats or barley. That requires thorough knowledge, a lot of attention to detail, and special food handling, to prepare and serve a safe meal that is totally gluten-free.

Cracker Barrel uses all whole, fresh foods, not pre-seasoned, pre-marinated, pre-packaged foods like Appleby's, TGI's & Ruby Tuesday. The manager will have the cook take special precautions in preparing my meal. That makes a huge difference, as it's risky for me to eat most restaurant food.

I'd also like to say that Outback Steakhouse actually has a gluten-free menu, and will make special efforts to serve a tasty and SAFE meal for those of us with this affliction.

They must be better down South. The one I went to here
in Mass. absolutley sucked. When I can't get to a good old
fashioned greasy spoon for breakfast, I'll go to Denny's.

I like their rocking chairs!

Thread has awoke my taste-buds... mouth is watering. Just what my waist line needs...

Another of the great things about Florida is every kind of food is well represented. I became addicted to biscuits & gravey and grits while selling steel down south, never get tem in Joisey. But then again, nobody else has our extremely well run Greek diners!

Well those days are almost behind me. All through my 20's and early 30's I weighed about 150-160. In the last couple of years I jumped to 185. Sooo, after the first of the year no more milkshakes for me. Although the real culprit is beer methinks.
