Default Arrested with 90 guns, 20K rounds ammo

Mixed thoughts on this, not sure why it is illegal to own 90 guns and 20K rounds of ammo(at least in our State) but it does appear he was up to no good or worse

Illegal possession of machine guns is probably frowned upon

News article quoted:Authorities said Kimpton purchased firearms, bullets and tactical gear from online sellers, but would later contest the sale, stating he never received the items.

Authorities found 90 weapons, over 20,000 bullets and five bump stocks when they searched Kimpton's properties.

Authorities also learned Kimpton was researching mass shootings.

I have no problem with legally purchasing all the above. I could care less about the right to bear a bumpstock. If the article is actually true, he was/is a fraud and a menace to real gun owners.

i got 25 without even trying

I probably got a few thousand rounds too
hell one little box of 22 lr can be 500....

this stuff gets sensationalized often for no reason

A domestic call, something in view that gives cop reason to search....normal people get branded as wackos

Like any tool, different tools function differently. A set of wrenches, in different sizes. You only use one at a time. See? Shotgun is a different tool that a rifle, and a pistol etc.

How many guns should people be limited to?

Agree with bigjmmie. If the press accurately using the term "machine guns" the dude could be in a world of hurt with the feds.

Possessing an illegal machine gun

Committing numerous frauds to acquire guns and gear (although ordering guns, I thought you would have to go through an FLL).

Seems he was looking to do a mass killing or at least it appears that way (potential, from what is reported)

This was not your average gun owner this WAS A CRIMINAL !

Hey man I value and trust your opinion on these LEO threads but i guess problem I have is WHEN is it a crime to own that many guns.

Now I am sure there is more to the case than they are telling the public and no doubt this POS was up to no good but he still, outside of bump stock, was legal.

As for not paying for the guns that is between him and the seller

Again Not saying I disagree with the arrest just not sure how it is/was justified

I'm not sure it should ever be illegal to own that many guns if we are just talking about the number and put everything else aside. It seems that guy was a dirtbag regardless of his intent to use them. Some people collect Beanie Babies and some people collect guns. My good friend's grandfather was the country's leading expert/collector of one variety of shotgun. I'm sure he had well over 90, but he was just a grandpa that liked shotguns.

It's all the other factors that I have a problem with regarding the guy with 90 guns. Intent aside, he's at least a major thief and conman.

There are probably not that many people that have a collection of 90 guns, but you might be surprised how many completely normal and sane enthusiasts end up with a collection of 30 or more. Once you buy a gun, it doesn't cost anything to hold onto it, so as someone transitions through various shooting interests including different competitions and hunting pursuits on top of their home defense arsenal, it isn't hard for collections to grow along with ammo for each one. Do you like guns and also have hoarding tendencies? Not hard to amass quite a collection without really trying.

I agree!!

IFTHE ARTICLE IS ACCURATE

Also notice no where did I mention the number of guns he has just the charges cited (AGAIN, relying on the fact that the article is indeed accurate)

I hope the amount of guns he had in possession has nothing to do with his arrest......
