Default Do you think this is justified?

In my town we have a town boat ramp that is owned/paid for by the town. There is a landowners "society" of people that actually live on the lake. They do not fund this ramp. Apparently the town has closed this boat ramp so we all don't die of covid 19, but has graciously allowed landowners on the water to use it. I feel like the landowners influenced their decision. In my opinion if we pay for it, we should all get to use it and if it's closed because it's not safe, it should be closed for everyone. How would you guys feel if this were happening in your town?

Nope. That's dumb. Shouldn't be closed for anybody, even if CV19 were as bad as they thought it may have been. Boating is perfectly safe. If people are being stupid and partying on the water in tight proximity to one another, stop that.

Subterfuge and sabotage. If I didn't get to use it no one can. You'd be amazed how many problems cant be fixed by a gascan and a match.

If you don't know what you're doing, you'd be amazed by the problems you can create with a gas can and a match! I've seen the Darwin Award vids.

I have posted the list of the town selectmen on the town FB page where this was initially brought up in hopes that a bunch of us would send them the message that this shit does not fly with us! I'm glad to hear y'all feel the same as we do.

I should also add they they say "we do not have plans to reopen the ramp until the end of the season". So effectively the landowners have the lake completely to themselves for the year. I feel like if we let them get away with it, they'll do it again next year for some other reason.

The town knows that boaters are the real lake problem, and always have been....

Since you have no clue where you live (no location shown) this thread is meaningless!

Location is irrelevant. Not justified, and ridiculous whether in MA or SD.

So the landowners (lake front property), can use the ramp? But the rest of the town, who pays taxes on it and has used it before, can not?

Or these lakefront people are using the lake all to themselves, but still can't use the ramp..

Same type of situation for us but the ramp is owned and maintained by the marina and is closed to the public and for members only. Silly I know but their house, their rules.

I'm not really a shit stirrer but are they gonna arrest you for breaking the ramp rules

If they live on the water then you can’t equate access to their domicile with another's recreation. Just an odd situation.
