He was a nice guy... We sat next to him and a few other Dolphin guys at Gulfstream horse track a while back ... They were very friendly and partied with us...

He was a coach? I just liked the steak house. I had a steak there - it was Perfectly Seasoned.

That 1972 season he had with the Miami dolphins was epic....the Bucs weren't around so if you followed Fla NFL, they were our team. Csonka, Kiick, Earl Morral!! stepped in for Griese. Paul Warfield, Buonicotti, Larry Little and done forget Garo Yepremian..! Undefeated all season including pre season and post season...

I met and got to know Tim Foley, Vern Den Herder, Norm Evans and "Capt Crunch" # 57 Mike Kolen! Pretty big stuff for a 19 y/o to hang out with these guys!

Never met Shula but would have loved to have. Met Griese a few times........ not impressed.

Thanks for the great memories Coach!!

I better turn on the NFL Network.......

A great and classy coach, who coached the ONLY undefeated team of all time. Pats got close, but they weren't Giant proof.
Watched the 1996 NFC Championship game yesterday Dallas vs Green Bay, so when I saw this today it saddened me.
Boy were Pat Summerall and John Madden great together.

I sat next to him in church when I was a small child, in early 1970s.

He didn't make a big impression on me.....

Back to the steaks - i think it was a blend of garlic and celery salt, some paprika. S&P...really just a perfect seasoning. The cut was New York Strip and gotta cooked to order. Sides were great too - creamed corn, baked p (Fully loaded), creamed spinach. Good wine list too. Gonna miss those.

I think ultimately, he’ll probably be known for the restaurants...

RIP.
If he were the GOAT Joe Namath would not be in the Hall of Fame.
An then again maybe my teams coach shouldn't be either if Eli makes the hall of fame.

My dad got us season tickets in 1970 and I'm pretty sure that I was at every home game until I left for college in '79. Got to go to several Dolphins closed practices because my brother played on the same little league baseball team as Nick Buonicotti Jr. I will say that having "your team" go 17-0 when you're 12 makes it hard to be a fan later in life. All downhill so to speak. Don't think I've watched an entire NFL game other than a couple of super bowls in this century. Rather be fishing. Always thought Shula was a class act. Loved the Don Shula show on Monday nights. RIP.

I remember when he coached the Colts & Johnny Unitas. That was one hell of a team & then he split to Miami. Kinda disappointed when he left the Colts...

Not the Goat, the Goat is Belichick. It’s not even close.
