Plenty of them being sold. It's a pipe until you drill it out. Just like 80% lowers. Prob not really worth it though.

Yeah you can get pretty much get anything, but all are made in china. Not sure on the legalities though. Just research solvent traps or 1/2x28 fuel filters

Got it, thank you both. As with most crap on the internet it's complete garbage is what I hear through reading your posts.

Cheaper part I can definitely follow. Faster part is bunk. Have to wait on the ATF regardless. That's the part that takes a while. I guess I can drill a hole faster than I can take a trip to the local gun shop, but that's not really a time consuming thing. They are across the street from my payroll processor anyway.

Solvent traps......that's exactly what he mentioned. He's already done it for several of his rifles including a shotgun I think he mentioned.

The legalities are what concern me, and made in China.....no freaking way!

Form 1 suppressors are done all the time, and are indeed faster for approvals for some reason. No where near the 8-9 month wait for a commercial can. Some guys with machine shops build some really nice baffles and they work very well. The do it yourself kits where you drill the holes are not as good. Pretty much washers and spacers.

Form 1s are taking a long time too. Not a real priority to the ATF folks. Most questions have been answered in the silencersmithing forums over at ST. FWIW. I am a mod over there.

There is a cool factor for making your own cans. My dentist, who is a class 8 manufacturer, and I talk about them all the time. Eventually one of us will belly up and get a metal 3d printer and start building some monocore internals.

I know nothing of them, but I am on a Form 1 group on FB...they get multiple Form 1s back before the Form 4 or whatever is the other one. Lots of people claim this so I have no doubt.

The "fuel filter/solvent trap" kits?

They without a doubt work.

As good as a several hundred dollar suppressor? It's debatable.

I just form1'd a can. Filed application 3/19. Got it back today. I just wanted to build one. If using quality materials, its not much cheaper but I have a lathe and mill so no big deal.
Still 9 month to a year wait on a form 4 though.

If you just want a 22rf suppressor a piece of 1.5" PVC pipe, some fittings and milk bottle caps will work but as soon as you put it on the barrel of your gun, you are committing a pretty serious felony. I suppose you could "Form 1" one but it seems silly to have a $200 stamp for a $2 suppressor.

If I’m going to spend $200 on a tax stamp and wait a year I want to know in advance if the thing will actually work.

I can see the novelty in making one on your own but for around $500 for an average can I don’t see the point. All but one of mine are titanium. If for a hand gun no way I would make it out if anything else.

Do it just like he says. It is a solvent trap until you drill out the end piece. Leave it alone until you get your form one. It is much quicker and it is 100% legal. Just don’t try and put it on your gun and shoot it without completing the form one and paying your $200 tax
