Default Screw the national restaurant chains

Besides going downhill for years these guys are the pits for take out. Which is all we have right now. I am not home so can't cook my own food. Traveling for work. They screw up the order, don't give you what you ask for, get salad dressings wrong, food is cold but sour cream and dressings are hot. Really?? is anyone even trying? So tonight in Secaucus NJ outback is out of most steaks so *uck them. Going to local Italian restaurant that has everything every day. Would really like a steak but somehow outback cannot deliver. even was going to give them a chance to not screw it up by ordering sides that they can't screw up like mashed potatoes and broccoli.

Today I switch over. Only local restaurant's when I travel. Chains only as a last resort. You chains all suck so just suck it. Nobody cares about delivering a quality product anymore. Just throw the shit in the bag.

Getting Chicken Sorrentino from a place called Bella and it will be perfect like all my other meals from there. Highly recommend. Guy is kind of like the soup nazi on Seinfeld but like that guy the food is worth it!

When I travel is specifically where I have avoided chain restaurants for years. No better way to experience a new place than to stumble upon some hole in the wall local joint.

I've never had a memorable meal at a chain.

Edit: I retract that last sentence. Had an awesome burrito special stuffed with sirloin, onions, peppers, and pataters at the Denny's in Hisperia, California trying to beat the sun going down hauling ass out of the desert on a BMW 1200. Did not make it and temps dropped quickly, was shivering when we finally stopped. That was a damn good meal.

We have a unwritten rule in my company when we travel for business. No chain restaurants unless we absolutely have to. Only exception is in-n-out when traveling to the west coast. I love that place.

Me and the wife got tired of cooking so we ordered chilli's.
You guessed it, it sucked. We're sticking to chic Fila and cooking ourselves.

Literally. Most 3rd world countries only have local spots that serve fresh food.

I’ll agree with you on all that you state OP! Find some of the best food stying away from those places and just asking around town where to go. Have found some really awesome places all over the country by just asking around. Plus if your one who like to support smaller local people it helps the community you’re in. Other complaint with sooooo many of the chains is the amount of salt it seems like is in everything!! Just get nasty!!

My rant ("restau rant") is why have they not figured out how to deliver a good product by this point. I get it. They are restaurants that their prime product is serving people at a table so that's what they focus on. Makes sense. You want to go? Okay we'll throw that stuff in a bag for you. But right now to go is the only business. Step up and make it a good product. Why not make that a good product?

I do controls jobs. I like to go in a certain order. But sometimes I need to do things differently that I like or am used to due to conditions. Including doing a job totally backwards. Not comfortable but do what needs to happen.

Whose the guy that says **** em, feed em fish heads? His quote works here.

OP is the kind of guy who sends a steak dinner back because it was cooked medium-rare and he wanted rare.

Not a perfectionist. This is standard for all the chains. Over and over. Throw the crap in the bag whatever way and send it out. Hope you like sour cream hotter than what it's going on. If we run out they can order something else. Could deal with them being out of something because its hard to get but not the case here.

The only national chain I occasionally eat at is Texas Roadhouse. Otherwise, just local mom and pop stuff for me. I tend favor the places that hire my band. You give me business, I give you business.
