Default Night vision....

So, where I live there are no documented cases of Corona virus and we want to keep it that way. We are on an island and have 24/7 watch/patrol but are looking to up our game in case things get worse on the mainland. Probably 15 years ago I was able to mess around with some military goggles but definitely don't have a budget for something like that unless they're "old" Looking for any kind of opinions because I see this stuff ranging from 50 bucks to 10,000. Also salt air/water is probably going to be involved.

I've been following this thread:

Boat With Confidence At Night - Save $200 today through 3/31/20

I am waiting for more reviews when we actually get release from Covid Jail. But it looks promising.

I had one of these and while I think it could help I think I'm looking for about 10x what it can do.

Do you want a system to detect or to shoot bad actors?

I'm all for some laughs but this is serious. If things get worse this is a prime target for people running from the virus or needing food/money or whatever.

I'm still trying to understand the need/desire for nightvision in this case. Budget here is very important related to what you want to do. If your budget is $500 and you want to see people trying to land on your island and you want to pick them off at 500 yards...sorry use the parachute flares like someone suggested.

Is this a serious question?

What exactly is your plan? You going to pick of fellow Americans seeking refuge on the island or do you think they will b breaking into your house? If this is to prevent people from coming onto the island, good luck with that?

Yes this is to prevent people from getting onto the island. To spot them and then the "police" can go stop them from entering. I don't think we can get parachute flares due to hazardous shipping. Budget maybe like $1000 not really sure, there's a big range in prices but we'd like something useful.

People can not come to the island without special permission from the authorities.

And no I don't plan on picking anyone off unless they're trying to kill me.

If things get bad, are “police” going to be concerned about trespassers on an island?

Agreed
This is an intriguing product and looks like the co supports well. For the price I may give it a try

What kind of island are you on where people would want to risk their lives in a pandemic to get to your private island?
