Default moment of stupidity lost parts to Boat on side of road

How many of you have left something on the back of the truck and lost it on the side of the road? Well last night it was my turn. When leaving the shop I grabbed the teak I refinished for the SeaCraft. While loading it up I put some peace’s on top of the ram box.

I closed the tailgate and hit the road. When I got home I realized my big mistake. My dad and I drove back to the shop and checked everywhere we could on the way home but I only found one of the three pieces that fell off.

Oh yeah been there, usually it's stuff left on the rest casting deck from unloading the boat before taking it home.

Left our nice Bose Bluetooth speaker back there upon taking the boat out at Murrell's Inlet. Made it back to Socastee...somehow.

My dad used to call it "the stupid tax" and Lord knows I've paid my share.

There's a great room somewhere where all that stuff goes , never to be seen again.

Did that with a phone a while back. I guess when I was strapping the boat to the trailer, I placed my phone on the transom. I then drove home, and realized that the phone was missing. I had tracking on the phone, so I searched the location. Tracking was less than perfect as it was showing somewhere in the intracoastal. I decided to call it, and someone answered. They saw the phone fall from the boat, and tried to flag me down, but couldn't get my attention. Luckily, no damage to the phone, and I picked it up a little later.

Been There done that. I once had all my boat battteries out for the season. Was getting the boat ready and topped off all the batteries on a charger. Loaded them up in the truck and my wife came out to talk with me. I gave her a kiss jumped in the truck and headed to the boat. A few blocks from the house I hear a police loud speaker "sir go back to the intersection and pick up your batteries". 4 deep cycle batteries turned to scrap.

Saw a brand new bait pen on the side of the road last year. My son and I pulled off and as I was grabbing it a guy pulls up flashing his lights and swears it's his. We threw it in the back of his truck, he said thanks and sped off.

I still wonder if it was really his or if he had seen it and doubled back to grab it like we did.

I left a small craftsman socket set somewhere a couple weeks ago. I think it was on the trailer next to where I keep my boat.

Its gone.

Did one summer years ago on highway crew painting lines in escort warning truck. OMG the things we found from mild to wild. Tools a big one. Best one, I could imagine 3 year old in car throwing things out the window every 5 seconds every 100 yards or so another item from CDs to clothes, lasted for miles!

Me too. I had it in a cushioned case of some sort, but it must have just landed right.

My wife did that. She left her phone on her roof and then a while later was looking for it. I tracked it and it was showing at the end of our street. I walked down there and hours later there is was sitting in the middle of the road. Thankfully it wasn’t run over. We live in a relatively quiet neighborhood but I’m sure people drove past it just not over it. Sorry to hear you lost not only some monetary value but more importantly lost some time and love put into refinishing.

Launched with Armstrong bracket inspection plates loose just laying on bracket. Got past no wake zone and WTF! Went back but couldn't find them at ramp. Glued on some plastic ones to save the vacation.

I found the other two pieces on i95. One of the pieces just needs to be sanded and refinished, but the other piece was ran over so I will have to try to remake that piece

I once left my wallet on top of Mrs B's car and she drove off.

I was supposed to go meet her, but couldn't find my wallet, so I called her and cancelled our appointment.

I prolly looked around the house for an hour without finding it (of course), so I started expanding my search and eventually found it on the road about 100 yards from our driveway.

It had come open enough that all the cash fell out and was blown into the woods. I think I found it all. The credit cards all stayed with the wallet. We have very little traffic on our road.
