Default Safe selections (Guns and stuff)

We don't own a lot of weapons and we don't have a lot jewelry. I just purchased an AR10, so at least something big enough to fit that. Jewelry could fit in a 6x6x6 cube. 3 pistols.

Value of stuff- Jewelry is replaceable and insured
weapons- nothing collectible

Kids-10 year old twins

Any sage of substance (more than a couple 100lbs) would have to be in the garage (not ideal)

House is well lit and has enough cameras )12) to spot a nats ass, which then text me an alert.

Obviously talking/educating the kids. But they are kids and they have friends.

i can't stand to buy crap and regret it (China made safe) but I also don't want to spend more on the safe than the contents are worth. Ammo will be stored in a second less secure "safe", but I want the weapons reasonably protected. Sounds silly, but the garage is full of tools, just short of plasma cutter and an oxy torch. Everything else to break into a safe is in my house. Garage is VERY visible to the street.

I have looked at the under bed boxes, but I don't want to set myself up for disappointment. I know how easy it is to get into them. I didn't have the key to a truck vault and work and I was inside it in under 5 minutes. it was a SWAT Vehicle and I had access to all of their long gun weapons.

AMSEC seems to have dived into the China realm, So many choices so little info on quality. Looking to spend under $2k is a hope.

Any thoughts? suggestions?

Buy once and be done with it forever.
What ever size you think you need, go one size up.
Buy a Drake safe. I will never own anything else.

Not popular with the purists but I'm on my second Winchester from Tractor Supply. My first one was a 24 gun 600 lb one for our primary home. We're in the process of moving to our condo after we close on our primary house on the 24th. Since space is at a premium at our condo, I bought a 12 gun Winchester fro TS. $349 right now. https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/pr...0?cm_vc=-10005

I also have an under bed one: https://www.secureitgunstorage.com/p...safe-model-47/

Iíll second tractor supply. Catch them on holiday sales. My buddy has a Winchester and I have a Cannon wide body. I also recommend building a 12Ē tall base to put the safe on so you donít have to bend over every time you want to look in!

one thing to keep in mind is that regardless of what everyone is going to tell you, is that nothing is inpenetrable. All you need is a disk grinder and you can break through almost all of them. Anything you get, especially within your price range is just about making it inconvenient for someone to break in.

Iíd just get a decent Liberty, bolt it to your slab and call it a day. thatíll prevent about 99.999999% of the thieves from getting in your stuff.

p.s. buying a safe is like buying a tent. A 12 gun safe isnít really a 12 gun safe. Buy 2x bigger what you think you need.

I have a Winchester from Tractor Supply. Its a nice safe. I have mine in my garage, I have a closet in my garage (for some reason, I have no idea, it was there when I moved in) and I bolted it to the floor inside the closet. I put it up on a couple 2x4s in case I decide to wash a car in the garage or something so it won't rust out.

And if you put scopes, red dots or whatever on them that all takes up major space.

Default No safe required

Just hide your firing pins in a ziplock bag somewhere in your house, insure all your weapons. If someone steals them, you get to buy newer models. If your kids or a drug addicted gets them, they wonít be functional.

When my oldest was about 7 we purchased a Liberty safe. Lincoln 25 is the model. In the mid 1990s it cost $900 delivered inside. Iíve had that safe 25 years and besides some paint blemishes, itís as good as new and will last a lot longer than I will.

Always buy bigger than you need. Youíll be surprised at all the stuff youíll want inside. My wife used to put the chips and cookies in there to keep it away from my little monsters. Not to mention several unmentionable items as well as important papers, tax records, old coins, etc.

best money I ever spent

The videos of the Liberty safes scare me.. I would feel like I am wasting money... $1500+ and all it takes is a couple of crowbars and 15 minutes to get into some of them. There are a lot of different models though....

Tl15 safes seem to be super $$$ and super heavy. A 24" deep x 45" tall x 24" wide (interior) would probably do me fine. I don't see many "real" safes that size.
