Default is anyone else starting to feel oppressed ???

with all these stay at home .

only going out by yourself .

not being allowed to use your own due diligence .

etc, etc, etc etc ,.

don't get me wrong ,i am all for social distancing and the necessities to stop the bug from spreading "" however " some government mandates and law enforcement are taking some things to the extreme when it comes to addressing how people conduct themself....

EXAMPLE: we as a family were out at a local un yet developed residential / industrial development area , around 10 acres and well away from any residential areas."" keep in mind our usual riding area is more than 50 km from our home , so we are not allowed to travel there MORE OPPRESSION"".
.
we were all enjoying ourselves keeping acceptable distancing protocols kids riding ATVs, adults riding dirt bikes , and some just enjoying the out doors for the afternoon.

along comes this ""pig council copper "" (shire officer ), puffing his chest full of authority ,informing as that our family gathering was unacceptable for the ""social distancing rules" threatening to call the police if we did not abide
.
he also implied we were trespassing >>> WTF , people have been using those paddocks for years as a recreational area for dirt bikes etc .

hence , none of us wanted to cause any trouble (some exchange of niceties ABOUT HIM HAVING NOTHING BETTER TO DO WITH HIS LIFE ETC ) we packed up and went home , we had 3 very upset children to deal with because the ATV riding is the be all and end all to them..
anyway rant over !

i know some are going to ridicule .BUT here is my standing on social distancing ,etc :
if people appear to be doing all necessary due diligence in regards to their wellbeing IMO there should be no need for law enforcement to get involved .

if on the other hand , a group of people have a blatant dis regard , law enforcement should IMO use their powers as the see fit ...

curious to hear other peoples veiws on some of the oppressive rules that are being inflicted on the population..

AN EXCERPT FROM A TEXT I FOUND ::: for those that don't understand the meaning.::

What is Oppression? In its traditional usage, oppression means the exercise of tyranny by a ruling group. Yet, oppression creates injustice in other circumstances as well. People are not always oppressed by cruel tyrants with bad intentions. In many cases, a well-intentioned liberal society can place system-wide constraints on groups and limit their freedom. Oppression can be the result of a few people’s choices or policies that cause embedded unquestioned norms, habits, and symbols. These societal rules can become an restrictive structure of forces and barriers that immobilize and reduce a group or category of people. No matter which definition you use, oppression is when people reduce the potential for other people to be fully human. In other words, oppression is when people make other people less human. This could mean treating them in a dehumanizing manner. But, it could also mean denying people language, education, and other opportunities that might make them become fully human in both mind and body. People should be free to pursue life plans in their own way. Oppressive forces seek to diminish those plans and thus those people as well....

Sounds like more than your family were at the location. Given that pubic access to many areas is not allowed, and given that you were on private property not owned by you, seems like this "pig council copper" (great wording there) was right on the money asking you to all leave.

That's of course not discussing whether children should be riding ATVs, or whether adults were consuming alcohol and riding ATVs, etc.

And to answer the question - NO.

I am depressed that such a high percentage of the population has to do things that they don't have to do, and put others at risk. How are ATVs fueled? By gas, which you need to buy. Unnecessary.

What happens if there is an accident? Visit to hospital - unnecessary.

Exactly what civil liberties have we handed over. If the social shutout has limited exposure then it has been worth a little down time. I do think we did not necessarily need to shut down so many business, restaurants could have cut capacity to 50% and still operated better than just carry out, just follow the model used for Cosco, Sams CLub, Lowes and others. What does not get mentioned is how many hospitals have been hurt as elective surgery was shut down, everywhere, just in case, hospitals need need to working patients to stay solvent The list is long for mistakes made or overactions all across the board, next time maybe we can do it differently, and there will be a next time.

The Detroit Dictator, she tried banning boating the other day statewide. Just another day being allowed to be free enough from ourselves by our overlords.

We are living in an unprecedented time and you are here bitching about not being able to ride your dirt bike? And then the pig talk because a guy was doing his job? Grow up.

Totally inaccurate. A Michigan State Police Lieutenant incorrectly stated that it was not allowed, and the governor's office corrected that. It is allowed - but discouraged - because you're supposed to stay home.

What a terrible lesson to teach your young children, "disregard the authorities, dad is better informed and knows more", try seeing beyond your nose.

Nope.
stay at home
MEANS
Stay.....at.......home....only with nuclear family

Blanket rules need to be made, every case cannot be considered individually for every person in general population.

Everybody thinks rules dont apply to them, they arent doing anything wrong.

Civil liberties, my ass. This is just more whining by selfish idiots.

I have NOT “given up” my civil liberties. I HAVE employed my knowledge, intelligence and common sense.

My civil liberties allow me to prance across a field in a deer suit during hunting season, but doing so makes no sense.

When Dr. Sapphire has to remind people to brush and floss on national TV, we have gone full dumb ass.
I'm not convinced any of my civil "rights" have been taken away. I am more perplexed at the hype and panic.

Going into a Walmart seems like it is taking your life in your hands.

I live alone, I have internet, Netflix, a full refrigerator and working A/C. I have time to finally learn how to play my steel drum and carve some lost wax models. Work emails me about 3-4 timess a week and my niece and brother text one another a couple times a day. My only problem is getting up the initiative to start spring cleaning. Feeling oppressed, nope,,life is good

No I don't feel oppressed nor would I lament about my feelings on the internet. That's just me. I'm sure you are not alone in feeling this way. I won't comment on the situation you described regarding your family outing on private property or the vulgar term you used to describe the individual you encountered. Where I live we are asked to stay at home except for essential trips for medicine and groceries.
We are doing just that. I'm sure some in my area are not feeling oppressed and some that do may be whining about it on the internet as well.

To date :

🔹I have one friend who lost both in laws in March due to Covid-19 (C19).
🔹 wife's aunt and uncle were both hospitalized with Covid-19 and have recovered.
🔹 Neighbors father died yesterday due to C-19

Could you explain what business transaction you were not allowed to use due diligence with ?

Your quote:

"not being allowed to use your own due diligence ."
