So less than 10% showed symptons, 1% required ICU care & 0.2% died. So yes, let's destroy the economy so in a couple of years Millions can really die.
Applying those percentages to the current US population of 327.2 million, that gives you over 3.2 million people in the ICU, and 793K dead. When the ICUs fill up those 3.2 million would likely convert over to the "dead" pile. And that's with an infection rate of only 19%, which is well below most countries' estimates in the absence of attempts at mitigation, and a mortality rate of less than 1.3%, which is lower than current US domestic numbers are showing. So yeah. Millions. In the US alone.

That said, I don't have a clear opinion about the topic of this thread. If I didn't live alone I'd give more consideration to going fishing. I'd love to go mountain biking, but the parks and trails out here are chock full of people, so that doesn't seem like a great idea.

I do have a strong opinion to the effect that the US wants results more like South Korea's and less like Italy's. Unfortunately we look to be going down the Italy path. Go, us.

Yep only a small portion..
CNN- "
California on Tuesday reported the first death in the United States of a Covid-19 patient younger than 18, and the family of a 12-year-old in Georgia said Sunday she was on a ventilator and fighting for her life in an Atlanta hospital.
There also have been "concerning reports from France and Italy" about young people becoming seriously ill, "and very seriously ill in the ICUs," said Dr. Deborah Birx, the White House's coronavirus reponse coordinator, last week."

Boating per se is not contagious. It's the people without symptoms you bring aboard that can do you in and your parents. Wipe the credit card clean with isopropyl alcohol after you swipe it and keep your hands off stuff others touched. This is going to last a a lot longer than Dr. Trump is forecasting.

I boat alone or with my wife.

i boat with mine and my kids as well. Also won’t hesitate to raft up with my uncle, who I work with daily. Keeping distance from all others, and have to get gas anyway.

how can you possibly apply infection rates experienced in a high density population confined to a cruise ship, to the US population as a whole?

Oh FFS. I've been following this for months, and though it's serious, now administrations are really jumping the shark.

“With fewer recreational opportunities following the governor’s order, fishing was becoming too popular, the department said.

“We’ve seen an uptick in outdoor recreation at some locations in recent weeks as people have looked for ways to get outside,” said WDFW Fish Program Director Kelly Cunningham. “We’ve had reports of crowded boat ramps and busy fishing on some rivers, which runs counter to the governor’s direction to stay home and practice social distancing.”

Earlier, state-operated campgrounds, parks and trails were closed.”

is there no limit to the stupidity of our government officials. what a bunch of total bullshit.
it is like they are trying to make as many people stay bunched up inside and get sick and stay as unhealthy as possible.
like they have plans to take advantage of this crisis or something.
