Default My doc got quarantined

Supposed to go in to the doc shop tomorrow for the second part of a new fancy two part yearly physical exam process. He does the concierge medicine and of course sent out emails telling his patients that he would be taking his family skiing in Colorado for 10 days. Reading todays local paper and there is an article on an announcement from the health department that people who have been in the ski areas of Colorado in the last two weeks need to self-isolate due to the outbreaks in those areas. About 10 minutes after I finish the paper his office calls to tell me that the appointment will be rescheduled sometime in the future. You have to wonder why the folks who are supposed to be best briefed on this stuff make that kind of travel decision. It is not about inconveniencing me, but rather he has a diabetic child at home and the kid was on the trip also. Would not want to be hearing the conversations around his house right now.

Is this info about CO visitors being publicized? My kid backed out of a trip from NC to CO with a bunch of friends. Hi buddies all went, he chose not to due to his having chronic asthma. Doubt his friends are quarantining or even know it's a thing for them to be doing based on their trip. Common sense would dictate it is, but these are college kids, lol.

He may just not want to be available.

Regardless of his motivation, current recommendation is to postpone appointments for annual checkups, routine follow up visits for stable chronic diseases, etc. You should also call ahead if you are due for a checkup, but have a cough or fever. Folks with corona symptoms should not go to the hospital emergency department or their doctor's office without calling their primary care provider first.

Interesting. Our one local confirmed Covid-19 case is a doctor who got back from a ski vacation last week, visited a local tennis center and then treated several patients.

My fishing partner is an ER doctor who told me that it's 100% that he and most medical care giver will be exposed to the Coronavirus.
