Default Engineering graduate gift

What say you guys that actually received a gift when actually graduating college, anything memorable?

Son is finishing in May and I am looking to spend about 1K on something keepsake.
He has been given his main guns, a pistol, a rifle and a shotgun, actually a couple of shotguns, so what?
He is an outdoors kid but actually has built his own computer for gaming.

NO ONE uses a briefcase anymore.. Maybe a portfolio. Who uses paper anymore? Might as well have suggested a fountain pen.

A nice laptop bag is more 2020 https://www.shinola.com/mens/bags-ac...-sdt-003667041

Well, I assumed he would understand a briefcase today means a nice laptop bag that also holds folders and such. Seeing has I am an engineer, I work with all engineers, and have so for 20 years, I know that no one uses old school laptops. I nice shoulder bag that holds a laptop and other stuff is very nice. I detest back pack laptop bags. This isn’t elementary school.

The above or similar may work if he is into gaming, but does not have a top end monitor.

I am a chemical engineer, I use a backpack for carrying my laptop instead of a brief case. Who wants to look like an old fogy.

I would avoid anything gaming or that will wear, like a standard backpack.
get home something that he will still be using when he retires, and his kids will want. It could be a bag, but I would go heavy duty.

does he have a career lined up yet? ChemEng can work in a CB lot of environments

A nice watch.
Mechanical, not quartz. A see through caseback would be ideal so that the engineer in him can watch the movement do its thing.

A murse, some flip flops (they call them slides now), a sack for his man bun... an electric scooter (bird) or boosted board, one wheel or go all out and buy him a yurt with an eno... These all seem like something today's college grads would like.

Great Ideas.

I was thinking a couple nice Filson Pieces.
I like the watch idea as well.

he is getting out with no student loans, so we have helped him a good bit already.........that is why cash is out.

He is at LATech? I got my Master’s from there and I work pretty much with all Tech grads. Knowing he is from Tech I would say get him some super swampers for his jacked up diesel.
