Default Another "had to put my dog down" thread

Just got back from vet's office. Had to put my 11.5 year old goldendoodle, Roxy down this morning. God, what a loss. She's been my faithful companion 24/7 for 11 years. Traveled all over with me, went out fishing etc. She had a fast growing mass in her abdomen as well as lot of arthiritis in her hips/legs/back. I couldn't stand to see her suffer any longer. Thankfully, my sister is in Florida and staying at the same park as I am. She went with me and has been a huge help the last few weeks since I had to have my appendix out and can't lift anything very heavy. I love you Roxy!!!

I am rarely short on words, but threads like this always find me struggling to come up with something meaningful to say. Dogs are the best people in the world. Their love is perfect. I am very sorry for your loss.

This is so hard.
The good news is that you could do something for her to end the suffering peacefully.

Sooner than later you will find a new best friend.

Hang in there.

I quickly scrolled down to the bottom without reading first post. These threads always get me choked up.

Damn, Mike....that is way too young. I feel really sorry for you.

Sweetie had a bad couple of days after eating something and not pooping for a day or so...we woke up the other morning and she didnt move, and I thought the worse.

Thankfully she has put it behind her...but just the thought of her not being right with me in the shop or anywhere on the property was not good.

So sorry for you loss. Roxy is beautiful.
Our neighbor has a goldendoodle that comes to visit if we happen to be
sitting on the front porch and she sees us. Very sweet loving dog.

The right thing is not always easy. Good on you for looking out for her until the very end.
