Default Daytime TV

I mean seriously, what did people do before Netflix when they were at home sick all day (or whatever)?

Everything on daytime cable is turrible. Our break room TV is on all day and it's all stupid game shows with stupider people, or soap operas.

Maybe Food Network isn't too bad, but I'm glad it's 2020 and we now have Netflix for when you have to hold down the couch all day. That's not me today fortunately, just in the break room drinking my tea and Let's Make a Deal is on. Turrible.

Then again, I watched alot of Below Deck last week home sick so ones definition of terrible is highly subjective.

I think part of it is our way of doing business and the TV industry is just lazy. Back when I was kid , you had a lot of stay at home moms and bored housewives.. that's how it was in the 1960s and 1970s. So, TV was stuff like that. You know Doris Day, Merv Griffin, soap operas , Donahue and reruns of Andy Griffith. I suspect the TV bug wigs know if you are watching TV at 1 PM you are either poor, retired (poor), college student (poor again), a bored trophy wife, or home sick or home with sick kids from school. Chances are most of us are working during the day, so they just don't care. Fill the time with pablum. You could always rent a block of porn on pay per view for the break room to mix it some.

Ha! That would certainly result in some drama.

The other day I was sitting in there with a bunch of the ladies from assembly and "the Drs" was on and it was some discussion of lady parts.

Was not ideal.

You're just figuring out that daytime network TV sucks? I knew that when I was a kid.

Ha, good point.

I didn't watch much TV as a kid. I remember watching TRL once during summer break and my dad came home and said if I didn't have anything better to do then I could come to work on the construction site.

So I went outside and rode my dirt bike.

I think that's why I can't sit in the house all day on a weekend anymore if it's nice out.

One question on this topic. What in the hell do they tell these people to get them so excited about winning a prizes on TV. I think most of to contestants humiliate themselves getting down to the podium. Just what could they possibly tell these people to make them act that way on national TV.

I don't understand it either. They really do act like morons. They all do so I'm sure they've been instructed.

Agreed man! Used to keep TV on for background noise when working from home, but it's just such crap I'd rather stream music. Only reason I think we even have cable is the price is basically the same for internet only vs. cable and internet. At the office break room is quiet until it's world cup, or the olympics... otherwise TV is just on for white noise.

Probably have to audition to be in the audience for those game shows. If you don't act crazy excited in the audition, you'll spend the whole show sitting in the audience.
