Default Solo trip to Vegas

Going to be heading to vegas for 4 days for a conference. I've never been and I'll be solo for the most part. Given the crowd here I figured you guys might have some good tips on things to do, or things not to bother with. Just looking for ideas, thanks!

Party with people from the conference. It's what we do in my industry but there is usually like 100 different private parties going on. I take work friends (all account reps = cute / super cool chicks) and we ditch the conference and party hop and rage. Usually end up with a mob of people by the end of the night. Taking over clubs / bars / whatever.

Don't embarrass yourself first of all...its a professional trip.

Keep it clean and as sober as possible.
When you go on your own time....well that's a different set of rules.

Herpes...kids and police record dont stay in Vegas

You definately work in a different industry than me. Hookers and blow is normal. We rent huge venues. My company with more together rented out the whole XS night club.

Lots of bentleys, ferarris, private jets, ect.

Most business is done in private in private meetings.

Bottle service is a must.

You should see the Thailand confernces...

My favorite casino is ARIA. They have really good restaurants too. I'm not a big fan of old Downtown Vegas but some people really like it. Plenty of poon to look at. Drinks are ridiculously expensive unless you are gambling.

Outside of the strip, you can go visit Pawn Stars and see what a little shit hole that place is. Then go see the shop where that other asshole tears up and rebuilds cars in a week. Hoover dam. Helicopter tours of the Grand Canyon.

Fly in to Vegas.. Check in to the conference, shake some hands, rent a car and drive to Utah for a couple days to see the sights. Return to the end of the conference, say your good bye's.

That's intriguing. Inquiring minds want to know about the other part. Bringing a comfort animal?

Behave and bide your time until you are back home. I hate drinking with coworkers and at the company sponsored events and hate Vegas.

For real every year when we have our big letís fly 3,000 people to Vegas a few of them donít have jobs a week or so after. Sh!t goes down hill with copious amounts of alcohol are provided in a social situation with people who you know well enough to accidentally step over a line that you thought was not there.

I was forced to go to Vegas twice. Its really expensive and nothing great. I would not go again unless forced again. Club/party scene is similar to NYC but its warmer year-round.

You are going to a conference & didnít mention your role, but either way, you need to use the opportunity to network. Go to a few cocktail parties, dinners, and then live it up a little, especially if on expense account. I usually play in a few poker tournaments along with a little single deck blackjack downtown. Plenty of good restaurants, lot of good live entertainment, & people watching. Hoover Dam, Lake Mead, and Red Rocks are neat, rent a car for a day, and take a drive.

As others have said, you are going to this conference for business reasons. Do business. If your company is sending you, give them an ROI. It should be no different than if it were in Des Moines or Salt Lake City.
Do some diligence and find out which contacts or accounts like to party. Then schedule them first thing in the morning day 3 or 4.

I'm a recruiter in the Start Up Software world where hard partying Vegas trips with nearly unlimited free alcohol are the norm, man do they end a lot of careers! Amazing how many people get fired from Vegas events, and the reputation can be hard to get past in future.

If you want to catch a quick buzz for free, go to any casino and play video poker at the bar. The bartender is right there and will keep your glass filled. You might even win a little money.

Other than that...the THT standby's of hookers and blow apply. After all, you're in Vegas baby!

Oh yeah, I'd steer clear of the prostitutes on the playing cards handed out on the streets. You're liable to wake up in a bathtub full of ice missing a kidney or two.

Currently in Vegas right now, bout to head out to SW steakhouse at the Wynn. Best steak on the strip IMO. Solo..... bring your walking shoes and soak in the strip for a bit. Gamble wherever you like. Aria and Cosmo are good on drinks at the tables. Hoover dam is worth seeing if you've got a rental car. Just know you can barely take a crap for 20 bucks in this town. This place was designed to extract money from your wallet; and they're dam good at it.

Actually, Vegas is one of the best places to take a free crap. Lots of casinos and shopping malls and they all have lots of free bathrooms. There are no admission or cover charges to get into a casino.

If you're near downtown, the Mob Museum is interesting if you don't feel like partying.
