Question Citibank rant

So , I have a home depot card I opened for convenience . Every month I drop by the store and pay off the balance . In November I drop in to pay , hand the bill and check to customer service agent . He scans the check and says it didn't go through ? He trys again, no go. Now another person comes to help , no success . They decide to deposit check manually this time so I give over the check and head out . Following week I get a letter from the bank , check didn't clear ? Go to bank , what went wrong ? Bank discovers they paid it twice , once electronically and manually also . Same check number TWICE really !!!! . This account only holds whats needed to cover whats written out . Bank stops Payment on one check to correct problem . Should be all set .
In Dec I go in for a purchase , card denied !!! Round and round with the group at HD , they tell me I need to get with Citibank to get this resolved ? Well ok , so after pointless phone jerking Citibank needs a copy of the processed check front and back . Ok so bank generates paid check and I fax to Citibank , Citibank documents a temporary refund for one of the payments . Today I get the letter that I am still unpaid and interest is now due .
Sooooo , phone jerking away we will now go !! Citi says now they need a copy of my bank statement showing where the payment was made , WTF ! How about you prove I didn't pay . Closed account , went to bank again for print out . Faxed it in and now waiting . This is a big waste of time , I may sue all parties involved just to waste their precious time .

Paying bill via check in store. Faxing documents.

Talk about a waste of time.

Don't worry, my parents still do this. We have a checkbook, but I have no idea where it is.

Furthermore, some people still haven't figured out that their account number and routing number on paper checks can be used by thieves to pay a wide variety of bills, order merchandise online or wipe your entire account out. That paper check that you hand over or mail out far and wide and probably passes thru dozens of peoples hands, is actually much more risky than online payments. Even in the instances where your bank has to occasionally send out a paper check for an unrecognized payee, its their MICR, not yours.

This X2. I have a good friend that refuses to pay bills online. I try to explain to him it is more risky to send checks in the mail but he thinks he's going to get scammed. I think I should give up! After all he has a 10 year old flip phone.
