Default Thinking about CBD oil

Didn't want to derail the other thread which was specific to the question of how CBD oil affects a drug test. I don't need to worry about that.

I experience the minor aches, pains, discomforts that I guess are to be expected with being 57 yrs old. Would like to feel better if possible. Reading so much positive feedback about CBD oil has me thinking about giving it a try. Not sure where to start however. Is this something you just decide to take on your own, or should I see a doctor first? Are there things to look for in a CDB oil, such as ingredients, lab certifications, etc? Things to avoid? What brands are considered the best, and what brands to avoid?

Uncanna - veteran owned, lab tested. Amazing stuff. Don't buy the cheap shit from Ebay or Amazon and expect miracles.

agreed, buy some of the better stuff that is recommended here in some older threads. I take it every night and the results are awesome. I sleep better, aches and pains are fewer, not nearly as many problems with my shoulder, guitar fretting hand doesnt see nearly as much fatigue etc.

I use Hempbombs.com

My 71 year old father started using it recently and has had positive results. Better sleep, less pain and generally a better mood. Placebo maybe but I’ll take it.

I have an endocrine problem that leaves me with a lifetime need for prednisone to combat inflammation. I can't take enough to get rid of the pain or I get angry easy and would run into the other bone density etc side effects. I take just enough to tolerate the pain, mostly. Been this way since 2007.

So I have tried cbd oil for about a year. I don't have the container with me to be able to quote the dose and mfr but it's like 3000mg. I take about 16-20 drops per morning. That lasts me almost 2 months and costs about $190.

What I have found is that it does nothing for the pain itself. It makes me more patient and able to tolerate the pain better. I have heard that the topical stuff is more effective if you have a certain pain area (knee/wrist/hands/elbow/shoulder/etc). In my case I'd have to dip myself in it so that wont work.

I get it at a health food / holistic meds place near me. They were good to talk to about how to get into it slowly and buy quality cbd. Get usa-grown, no THC. I wouldn't recommend buying online.

Pain sucks. Good luck.

Copaiba oil works much the same, HTJ tested and approved. If you stumble across someone that sells the stuff it's cheaper than online. Don't look for the cheap stuff on Amazon

I have had great results with Kats Naturals. I have tried several over the past 3 years but I find Kats to be must effective for me. I am currently using their "Full Spectrum Restore" but also have used the "Heal" THC Free oil.

Whatever you try make sure you use it daily for at least 30 days before you start judging one way or the other.

I've had a couple major surgeries in the last year and half. Damn near lost my left leg, they did have to cut a lot dead muscle out. Four days in ICU that I do not remember.
So I still and always will have quite bit of pain.
I tried it up to 50 milligrams twice a day ( full spectrum ) and it did not do anything for pain at all. I WAS hoping for something.
Product came from Lazarus.

So I'm also curious. I'm just recovering from a shoulder/rotator cuff therapy but my arm still hurts at night. It's difficult to get a good nights sleep. What is a "good" product? I see posters in all the drug stores but I doubt the clerks information.

I agree 100%, but "placebo effect" is a real thing.

I found my oil @ the Vitamin Shoppe, a chain store , the brand is "Garden of Life", I started with the 50 mg and after a few days it really began to work for me. I have a real bad shoulder and I really try to avoid Nsaids on a regular basis. I now use the 30 mg version of it . Garden of Life has a website and I buy it through that, it's quite a bit cheaper that way.

It works for me, and I didn't buy it from some fly by nite store on the side of the road. They say there is a lot of BS oils out there, I don't feel like this is one of them , just because of where I found it in the first place. I'm 66 and wrestle with the grandkids all the time, and my shoulder comes home sore after that. Then I use the 50 mg.

I was LEARY AS HELL of this at first, so I doubt it's the placebo effect, but if it is? I'll take it anyway.

I am 55 and have a lot of rough miles on me but - disclaimer - very active and fit so I don't suffer any "aches and pains" so to speak. Either the Copaiba oil I mentioned above or a quality CBD can benefit the right user but I think most would benefit more from improved hydration and a few simple supplements - turmeric and MSM w/glucosamine.

As we get older our thirst mechanism doesn't work as well as ayounger mans and our bodies don't retain hydration as well - a double edged sword to overcome.

Annnnd diet coke, ice tea, beer etc etc is most definitely not hydration.

I take 50mg a day and it has relieved my knee pain. Of course they will hurt if I over do it, but I no longer have the constant knee ache.
I use Floyd's of Leadville, full spectrum gels.
I started out with 25mg and then upped it to 50mg.

It's all about learning the proper CBD/THC ratio in your sublingual drops. You want to get enough THC in the blend to get some pain relief without getting high (if you don't mind getting high ... go for it). For me, I found a 4:1 ratio (CBD/THC) was somewhat helpful. Compare that ratio with potent marijuana strains which have opposite ratios like 22:1 (THC/CBD). It's the THC that relieves pain. CBD oil products simply provide a mildly therapeutic THC delivery system. Look for products that have been tested by accredited labs.

Look for brands with 3rd party lab results. Do not buy from Amazon, they do not allow sales of real CBD containing products. You will want to buy from the manufacturer's website directly. Some top names are considered to be Charlotte's Web, CBDistillery, Extract Labs, NuLeaf Naturals, Lazaurus Naturals, Bluebird Botanicals. That should give you enough brands to research for a while.

All full spectrum products contain THC. It is such small amounts, it does not get you high. CBD itself does not get you high. I have found a good sense of relaxation as well as better sleep. It has not helped in pain relief for me, but others say it has helped them. The effects can vary per the individual. Start with a dose on the lower end (like a quarter of what the bottle recommends), and work your way up. Sometimes a small amount is effective. Believe it or not, too much can actually be less effective. So experiment until you find the best dosage for you.

I'm not an expert, but have a bit of knowledge on the subject.

Most folks I know that are pretty involved in the CBD space swear by Pez Vela's advice above. Trial and error with time to analyze the body's reaction.

Another great company involved in oils, both cbd and thc is Papa & Barkley. Highly regulated for pesticides, molds, etc

They have a product that is called the Right Ratio Pack which contains both THC and CBD. You can experiment with different ratios to dial in the dosage that works for you.

https://papaandbarkley.com/product/right-ratio-pack/

Disclaimer: i have no involvement with these folks, just know folks that use the products/brand and are satisfied.

I don't take too much CBD oil. I like the THC oil personally. Live-processed, raw 100% THC oil. We can add the terps ourselves, thanks.
