Default Never thought of this, weed use and firearms purchase

Saw where IL is latest state to legalize marijuana and since this is a state law and a firearms purchase is a federal law how will this question be answered by those that use (truthfully )

Warning: The use or possession of marijuana remains unlawful under Federal law regardless of whether it has been legalized or decriminalized for medicinal or recreational purposes in the state where you reside.

I have heard that people with medical marijuana cards cannot legally buy guns due to the drug use question on the purchase form.

Just seen someone post something on facebook about that. Weed was like 198 dollars. By the time they added all the taxes it was over 300. Amazing what our Govn thinks is ok to do.

All boils down to MONEY

Fallout from drug losers cost lots of $$$$$. I think we should have a work card. If you work or own a business, rec drugs are legal. No work, no rec drugs.

It's really nothing new. I can drink alcohol legally, and I can drive legally, but I cannot do both at the same time.

Even though weed has been legalized at the state level, there are still plenty of jobs where you will get fired if you piss hot. State legalization doesn't mean you can get stoned and then go drive around - that's still OUI.

If something is allowed under state but prohibited under Federal, then anything that goes under Federal will be subject to Federal laws. For instance a passport is a federal document, so if the application said "no weed", it trumps state laws.

Firearms is a tricky one, as there are both state and Federal laws - you have to obviously comply with both of them.

Sounds like they're picking and choosing which laws they want to use for whatever agenda they have burning in the back ground.

A slight conflict and infringement where our Bill of Rights 2nd Amendment is concerned.

Amendment 2
- The Right to Bear Arms

A well-regulated Militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed.

Not turning this into anything political, just saying.

Lets keep it dock side.

So you can be an alcoholic and buy a gun but smoke weed a few times a year and it's against the law. Kinda two faced. JMHO.

This is true. And they have been lying for many years. Of course when they lie on the 4473 they committed a felony.

Lots of speculation in this thread. You guys are late to the game.

More than one State Supreme Court has already ruled on this issue.
