For comfort, 380 or sub-compact 9 in a pocket holster.

A CCW is all about compromises between concealment, capacity, size of firearm, capability of the firearm etc..

The Shield is my favorite. It is small enough but not a mousy gun and light enough and doesnt print too bad..

Shield .45 or Glock 43 in an OWB Cobra Gunskin, with shirt untucked. If I have to carry in a pocket, I'll carry my Taurus M85 revolver in a remora pocket holster.

Iíve had 2 semi autos that have filled with pocket lint resulting in FTE/cycle. I now CC a SW 38 airweight. Pull trigger it goes bang every time. I carry everywhere everyday not just on Saturday for my trip to the hardware store...

Either a pocket .380 like the LCP or Keltec P-3AT or this.

I"m based out of Chicago, main ternmial is out of Detriot and I load in Baltimore. Worst cities there are. I carry the 380 keltec with a lazor sight on it. Love it. I climb all over that car hauler unloading with it in my pocket. Can't have anything on the outside that could scratch a car. I"m about like the rest have several even a 460 mag but that 380 is all you need to stop a fight.

Guy at the gun shop has something like you described . He said 5 shots and made from Titanium with a belt clip , no holster , he has it all the time . Pretty slick .

When Iím not carrying appendix with my glock then Iíll often use my pocket gun if Iím dressed down or need more comfort. I carry a S&W .38 special snub nose with the crimson laser grips. Itís a really light gun and is hammerless. You can hardly tell you have it in your pocket.

Like others have said though; carrying comfortably is all about the holster.

Another vote here for a S&W .38 J-frame, mine is a model 442. One of those in an Uncle Mike's pocket holster is a simple and reliable rig. The J-frame draws out of the pocket smoothly without snagging. Get some Speer Gold Dot 135 grain short-barrel +P JHP loads and you have a very effective self defense handgun. Speed Strips are a good way to carry extra ammo.

I painted the front sight ramp on my 442 with Wite-Out and that helped my shooting.

the 42 is slightly smaller.

if you havenít held or shot a 42 I would, I could definitely tell the difference between them. Also smaller guns I tried such as the smith and Wesson Bodygaurd .380 didnít impress me at all. Felt like pure junk.
i do like the sig P238 nice gun but seemed a bit more heavy.
The 42 feels like nothing more than my cell phone when in my pocket. ( I donít carry that way but have tried it.)
