Only oil on your legs that they get stuck in if they are the same as here, Itchy as heck for two days. A spoon dipped in boiling water and then pressed, as you can, to the bite seems to help. The sooner the better.

Noseeums blow around with the wind so Bifen will kill some of them but they will return. I use bifen all the time and never see mosquitoes but it doesn't do much for the noseeums. I use off with deet, it works but I hate the idea of spraying shit like that on my body.

Same here. Bifen didn't do anything for me. Not in the least.

Nothing works 100% for me. Citronella candles and Thermacel help some. Sitting on our balcony, daughter, grand daughter, and I will get eaten up while wife and SIL never get bitten. I have tried no noseeums, skin so soft, deet, etc. and still get bitten.

Avon Skin So Soft, put it in a spray bottle, stuff hands down has worked the best for me. Beyond that I have heard Waterbabies Sunscreen, never tried it because Skin So Soft works so well.

I use to get them and ticks in my yard bad. We were having a cookout so I decided to try cutters backyard it's a bottle you connect to a water hose. Sprayed the backyard including trees and into the woods some couple of days before then again the evening before. It worked they showed up again few weeks later sprayed again then one more time weeks later we've not had a problem since. I pay close attention because of my 1-3 year old grandbabies.

I've also bought some permethrin for next round.

Thanks for the reply !
But be extra careful with the permethrin , that stuff is deadly , I’ve lost two
friends to liver cancer and they both handled that stuff regularly .

Dock building requires being in the gnat zone quite often- most repellent is effective but there is an application step missed by most- RUB IT IN. Spraying produces un-even coverage and the gnats will find the holes and eat you up.

Avon Skin So Soft is what we use in the northeast for midgies. Which are similar to the noseeums.
