Default Oculus

Can anyone give a review? I've learned more from this forum than the Google. Also interested in other VR platforms; I'm green as it gets but tech savvy.

We got our grand kids the Oculus Quest for Christmas. It doesn't need to be connected to anything, it's totally self contained.

Very easy to use, charge it, put on the head set, and follow the tutorials on what to do. Pick one of the included games and have fun. From our youngest grand son, 10, to the oldest person, 72, everyone had a ball using it.

I picked up a Valve Index because it is the best. With VR being in it's childhood, I would rather pay more for more than risk being outdated that much sooner. That being said, the Oculus Quest makes a compelling argument at half the price and good enough quality. I'm happy with the purchase as VR products have been around long enough now that there are plenty of games and an unique experience that has that wow effect. My wife is getting a regular workout with beat blade. For that matter, most every game gives you a workout as your psychical actions cause things to work rather than keys.

I don't know much about the VR stuff but had a play with an oculus the other day, I was blown away with it, very cool. My only concern is it's expandabillity, will more games come out ? how much will they cost?.
I have a feeling that if I got one one it would end up in the corner with the Wii after a few months.

This would be my main use if it's possible and enjoyable. Not really a gamer but thought VR might be cool for gopro stuff, or even Netflix. I'm really ignorant to this technology other than what can be gathered from a 30 second commercial.

Got to use the Oculus this summer for a weak. The zombi games were great but got sea sick with the flight simulator from the aircraft carrier. Must be an old wimp.

I have an oculus, and yes, you can watch Netflix. I got it last Christmas, and while it's cool, the novelty wore off soon after.

Ha... it was actually your reply to the motorcycle video thread a while back that sparked my interest. I guess I need to go check out a set, but from some of the replies, that may be easier said than done.

The endless roller coaster vids are pretty cool too. Enough that if you get sick on a real one, you'll probably need to lift the Oculus off your head for a few seconds.

I purchased the grandson an Oculus Rift S for Christmas. This is the model that connects to your PC via USB 3.0 and display port connection. Pretty neat unit and he's having a ball with it playing games off Stream.
