Sounds more like 2 traces are shorted together. These things have 2 mylar sheets and operate in a matrix. You might also have other keys failing but if you track them back to the actual matrix you will see why. You could try taking it apart and looking but I doubt there is any fixing it unless you just see something spilled in there you can clean out.

Keyboards are so cheap I’d have had a new one before I found a different computer to try it on.

Based on Petes other posts I would buy a soldering gun and fix it myself.

It could be from hitting the LOL button too many times as well.

Merry Christmas.

Turn it upside down and bang it like a screen door in a tornado.

Early today I whacked it pretty hard and that didn't fix it. Just now, I said, "Fug it..." and gave it a couple of real swats.

You guessed it. Fixed. Go figure!

Thanks!

Use those industrialized liquid-proof keyboards on the computer you watch porn from.....

It'll probably fail again down the road, under the keys is the "key matrix"....which is a bunch of circuitry and on top of it is the mechanism that they individual keys work with.
The "r" and "l" keys are rather far apart...so likely not something underneath like hairs or staples or a paperclip or chewed fingernails or the usual stuff.
And keyboards really just use a very basic driver...pretty much the same for all unless you have some highly specialized keyboard with tons of non-standard function keys. So I'm thinking she's on a slow death..and this issue will crop up again. Just replace it.

Are you aware you can pop the individual keys off?

I know... I happen to like that particular keyboard because it fits in the theater seating "cubby" neatly.

This thread reminds me of a guy years ago that had a phone where his #7 did not work anymore so if someone gave him their phone number & it had a "7" in it he would say - I'm sorry but I can't call you

All for a cheap ass landline phone

Um, he banged it upside down and it fixed it.... (methinks a read of the whole thread would be a good idea in the future)...

Im guessing you already restarted the computer?

Try turning keyboard off and on
Change batteries in the keyboard
Check for Windows updates and restart

Using a new USB port for the receiver should give you a new driver install

Could be a sticky key which is caused by hitting the shift key 5 times which let's you push 2 keys at one time (pets)

After that I'd tell the person to buy a new keyboard

True I wasn't hanging on his every post..... he lost my interest after his first 5 posts.
Maybe you want to correct my sentence structure too? How about my spelling? The internet must keep you really busy!
