This is just another hit job on Uber which overlooks datapoints.
Ok, I take that back. This morning at 5:30am I was picked up in a 2020 BMW 530, nice car but they guy took the longest possible route to the airport and did not end the ride until 10 min after I got out. My $38 Uber ride ended up being $52. Obviously he knows how to game the system.

Right now I’m in the back of a huge POS Ford Escape where my widow won’t go up all of the way (great for Philadelphia weather) it smells like the guy opened 10 of those pine tree air fresheners and every bushing in the suspension is shot.

I got in one once that took off in the clear opposite direction. I needed to go a few miles south and the guy started heading north It was pretty sketchy actually. I said where the F are you going and he said oh I thought it was this way. I almost got out and hit the uber stranger danger button.

I don't, never said he was and it really doesn't matter. The point being the "approved" driver violated the terms of his contract with Uber. It is as much of a safety issue for passengers as it is there are groups out there that set up a bunch of accounts with Uber and hire 3rd party drivers to drive the cars around the clock. Uber drivers have to get criminal background, driving record checks etc in order to be a driver. Personally I am not a fan of the idea of my wife and or kids getting into a car with possibly a 3 time convicted felon, and or someone that has been convicted of DUI's.

You stated what he was saying was nonsense. Sounds like lying to me.

Interesting. I used Uber last month in Key West, the app billed me and a week later said they were adding on an additional $7 charge to my Credit card for unanticipated charges???? I should have argued the charge. I don't think they should be able to do that, and have never had that happen before.

The total cost from Key West airport to Sloppy Joes was $35. I thought that was way high.

took an uber this morning. a woman picked me up quickly and i was excited for our short trip. well i had one of the craziest uber rides i have had in years. i think this thread jinxed. first, she is crossing double yellow lines on back streets to get around slower moving cars, OK whatever. then she is going 60mph in 25mph zones around curves almost skidding off road. and her brakes were shot. every time she braked it sounded like rotors grinding and no pad left, car shaking to a stop. i could have probably overlooked the passing around double yellow line but 60mph in a 25 around slippery curves and no brakes was a bit much.

We recently had a fustercluck here involving Uber and "an attack".

Story as it was initially printed (and never removed or corrected). Woman in a silver minivan in a popular shopping area was being chased down by a man screaming trying to get into her car. She parks, which auto-unlocks the doors, and the guy gets in. She starts screaming bloody murder as the Jui Jitsu gym right there is letting out. Guys from the gym removed the dude from the car, pull into the gym, and rough him up a bit, not letting him leave until the cops come (in this state that can be up to 3 hours legally). Cops find a weapon on him and he is taken into custody.

The reality: A guy got really drunk at the popular bar in the shopping center and called an uber. The uber (confirmed by uber) was a silver minivan, and the guy thought he was flagging his uber. Minivan stops, he hops in, next thing he knows a group of guys is dragging him into a gym all pounding on him shoving him around. He is too drunk to be able to understand what is happening and it is all a mistake. Cops come, and the "weapon" was a small pocket knife 90% of men around here carry every day for work/misc daily life uses.

I used Lyft twice today already with two separate hot chicks driving. They were very pleasant and had nice cars.

Now on my way back to the airport the Uber driver has a sh!t box accord and is blasting some rap radio show where they have been talking about dick size for the last 20 min. Today’s not my day for Uber.
