It's timed between both ends of the trip - Start time / Arrival time

I'm glad to see it's still being run. They averaged 103 mph, unreal!

looks like they had a huge fuel bladder in the trunk? Not sure how many total gallons both tanks could hold?

Its a little long but more details here. If you go to the 5min mark they talk fuel and stops. 60+ gallons.

I did a deep dive a few years back on this when the last record was set. The guys before them used a 2 door AMG coupe with a similar fuel cell in the trunk. Theirs wasn’t sealed well and they actually complained of fumes during the deal.

IIRC they chose these AMGs for leveling suspension in the rear that can handle the weight of the extra fuel. The speeds are insane for that amount of time. And I think I’m driving fast when I hit 85 LOL. These guys are cruising 120, 130+ for extended periods of time.

why do we celebrate this lawlessness? Glad to read there haven't been accidents as a result of the run but this isn't right -- do you want these guys passing your wife or kids at 100+ I'm sure they're undertaking as well

The easiest way would be the reduce the stops. I believe the guy who did it in 2013 tried to lighten the load as much as possible. I know for light trucks 100lb decrease in weight can mean 1% increase in mpg.

I like the idea of changing the cars appearance

Lots of tech in that car.

Not to take away from the achievement, but when does the tech start to tarnish the luster? What if the new record gets broken by an autonomous car? Or a flying car (like they've been promising us since the Jetsons)?

Wonder if there will be a category for electric vehicles. C2Ce Express, etc?
