Default Getting the shakes when hungry

In the past few months I noticed that when I havenít eaten in a while I start to get the shakes in my hands. I am not a nervous kind of person and as soon as I eat the shakes go away completely. I usually eat a muffin or toast when I get up @ 6a and by the time lunch comes around at 1p my hands are shaking so bad that I canít hardly write. I didnít drink coffee so itís not a caffeine problem. My glucose level is usually 110 - 115 whenever I get my blood checked but I am wondering if it could be a glucose kind of problem? Anyone else experience this?

Check your sugar levels, that and go see an endrocrinolgist and dietitian.

Upgrade your diet and frequency between meals...add healthy snacks - bananas nuts yogurt.... incorporate a healthy breakfast shake to start the day...I use this with frozen mixed fruits.

Going to have one now with this....

I'm having a hell of a time controlling my sugar levels, Define "only the good stuff"? Because my dietitian and myself sure as hell haven't figured out what doesn't cause my sugar numbers to spike? Being basically a health food nut my diet is pretty much on point and always has been....but then again I am stage 4 kidney failure.

I had hypoglycemia when I was young and would experience shaking when I was real hungry.

Muffins and toast are a boatload of really crummy carbs. Give a high peak and a real fast drop. Get in some Triple Zero yogurt, a few berries (don't forget they are sugar bombs) and a couple of eggs. If in a hurry slam a Muscle Milk

Sounds like low blood sugar, check it while your hands are shaking. Get help if your shaking so much you can't do it yourself

If his condition is low blood sugar then he should not be driving...period! And none of this shit I'm only a few miles from home so it's ok.

Yup, for real try bacon and eggs for a week. Or two hard boiled eggs and some mixed fruit. You will poop better too.

I also think that checking blood sugar when you hands are not shaking will not tell you what is causing your hands to shake

I don’t have a glucose meter so it would be interesting to check it when I get the shakes. I don’t get dizzy or feel like I am going to pass out or any other symptoms so problems with driving is irrelevant. I have tried eating different things in the morning but it doesn’t change anything. I never tried yogurt because I hate the stuff. Maybe if I put some bananas in it I can try to choke it down.

I keep a bag of raw almonds in my office but I limit myself to how many I eat. Just eating them doesn’t stop me from the shakes. I may try to drink a protein drink to see if that changes anything.

I have several OneTouch meters w/ strips and pin (very good units in perfect working condition) I could send you one if you are interested...PM me. This past week I upgraded to the FreeStyle.

You should probably see a doc Russ but yea since about 40/45 , 50 now , I can't do the skipping meals or not eating thing . Usually I wont realize because I don't really feel all that hungry it until I try to do something then realize things are off . Have some apples or citrus around you to munch . Oranges are easy and there's a bunch of variety's . I never really ate much of this kind of thing ... now I'll buy strawberries when there 2 for 1 . I realized I had some kind of stigma built in my head about ... say strawberries are for short cake or blue berries for muffins . Now I'll just pac-man them down . It's really amazing that all year around we can just walk into a building and buy this stuff fresh . Pineapples , grapes hell ya , whatever is on sale . I feel pretty guilt free about it also .
