Default Ford vs Ferrari

Just watched it and thought it was really good. Pretty long, but very entertaining.

Henry Ford was a complete pompous ass. Especially about that Ferrari deal that fell apart. I don’t blam Enzo walking away.

But it still a cool story. Just a bit off from what actually happened.

Looks like ALL the critics loved it, including that evil Rolling Stone ;-) Can't wait to see it.

Just got back from seeing it, I thought it was a great movie, my wife wondered why the racing part had to be sooo long lol. For all the Detroit Lions fans you get the idea on why we never win, as if we didn't know. For those that don't know, the lions are owned and managed by the Ford family. Maybe we need to bring in Matt Damon to manage the damn team.

We followed all of that back in the day. I owned and autocrossed an MGA, and was into all things racing. Drooled over a Shelby SC427 that showed up at the local drive-in.....just hearing that damn thing running would give you a woodie..

A buddy and I drove over to Daytona in 1966 to watch the race where the Mark 2's finished 1-3 and 5th. It was the beginning of the dominance over Ferrari. Short lived, however.

Looking forward to seeing the movie...

My parents each had MGAs when they were dating, and my dad was into racing (Limerock). I learned on his Alfa Romeo GTV2000....which has spent time lapping Limerock (including its later owner).

Yeah he got me into that era of racing, and smaller Euro sports cars (as well as American of course). Can't wait to see it.

Wife loved it more than me! Wish they had talked more about the engines.......

I used to Autocross race my 1970 Boss 302 next to Doak Campbell Stadium in college! It sound awesome at 6,100 revs and the headers open!

Sorry to be a downer here but did not meet my lofty expectations. I wouldn’t bother seeing in theater. I’d even go as far as saying it was terrible. Made for mainstream not Motorsports enthusiasts.

Just back home. It was about what I expected. It was made for the masses. I would have made an extended version for the purists.
I thought the practice footage was more fun than most of the racing scenes.

The new screens are much smaller than 20+ years ago and the sound was not what I had hoped for.

It was a good movie overall. I was not expecting great and was not disappointed.
Could it have been much better? Yes. Much of the history was missing, but that could be a mini series at least.

The previews were 25 minnows which was annoying so you won`t be late.

If you have a 60 inch screen or better and a great sound system, it may be better to wait.

I am happy we went. The ticket was not much more than the popcorn.

Cheers,
gfs

Saw it at the I-Max theater, large screen, surround sound, chair vibrates, the only thing better would be smell-o-vision & 3D. Enjoyed it very much, not so much if it was on a small screen without the sound system, even better was the drive home on Rt 128 trying to hit 7000 rpm in the Mustang but the damn traffic wouldn't let me.

Saw it last week.
I don't like Matt Damon but felt he did a good Shelby.
There were parts of the movie that kind of dragged on but the action made em worth the wait.
What I left the theater with.... a strong desire for one of those characters to smack Leo Beebe in the mouth.

"stealing the stop watches & throwing the nut next to the pit" Lightened it up. Got to hope that Ford upper management couldn't have been that bad? Overall, very good.

Saw it today for 4 bucks in Vero. I was disappointed not for any factual or historical errors but for the awful way hollyweird portrays racing driving.
- Drivers look at each other and even talking to each other at speed on the high banks
- Cars all over the track in a race none of them on the same line.
- Brakes overheating IN THE RAIN
- Portraying that when a driver wants to make a pass he just "floors it" or downshifts and floors it. come on.
Reminded me of the indycar film Stallone did a while back

Thought it was a very entertaining well executed movie.
Christian Bale was awesome as Ken Miles.
My wife who is no car or racing fan actually enjoyed it!
