Default Harriet

We are not movie goers but my sister and niece came for a visit and wanted us to see the movie, Harriet. Glad we went as it turned out to be a good movie.

Harriet Tubman was a black slave in the 1800’s who escaped from her master and fled to Pennsylvania to escape slavery. She was responsible for freeing over 700 people from slavery. Just thought it was a good show and a neat part of history. I personally don’t care if history is about any particular race, I just enjoy learning about it.

Harriet Tubman was an amazing, armed, Republican woman who risked life and limb to liberate blacks from oppressive, slave-owning, racist Democrats who believed she should not be allowed to own firearms.

Sound familiar?

No, I have not seen the movie but I know a bit about history.

Sounds like an awesome film. Thanks, Grace!

(Yes, I know her name's Sandy, but she will always be Grace to me.)

Sometimes I wonder about people who inject politics into every. single. topic.

Mainly, I wonder if everything in their world is that binary, and then I think that yeah, it probably is, and think how miserable they must be to be around. Because no matter the topic...somehow you're going to hear how its caused by (insert political party here).

Yeah it’s a shame Nixon and the Southern Strategy turned the Republican Party into one that folks like David Duke, Richard Spencer, etc support.

Sometimes I wonder about snowflakes who cannot differentiate between politics and historical facts.

Mainly, I wonder if everything in their world is overshadowed by a lack of education, an education that lacked history, or if their politics and feeeeeelings are so important to them their ignorance lends bias to everything they experience in their shallow little lives. Then, I realize how sad their lives must be and how they do so little to brighten the world around them. Because no matter the topic, these little snowflakes will. always. be. offended.

Please don't inject politics into an historical discussion about a film. Thanks!

I had written a reply regarding your woefully incorrect statement below, but rather than argue about it, I'll simply copy/paste the rules of dockside chat posted in in large letters above:

***NO POLITICS IN DOCKSIDE***

This means that if you post something that might be considered political, you will be suspended. It is at the sole discretion of the mod team, and if someone reports your post for politics, you can be assured a suspension is on the way.

We have a politics & religion forum. It is the Bilge. If you must talk politics on THT, use the Bilge. If you are not qualified to use the Bilge, you may not post politics on THT, period. Simple as that.

Thank you,

-The THT Team

Thanks for the PSA! Was that meant for Stevie Wonder or Ray Charles?

Are you posting the THT policy because it offends you, too? Is there anything that does NOT offend you? Does Harriet Tubman offend you? Does personal sacrifice to manumit slaves offend you? Does an armed black woman offend you? How long have you been a racist? History? A film? A film that doesn't feature dinosaurs or robots?

Woefully? You know that word? Apparently, your English is better than your history.

You started it dude, I just added the recent history. Just because its 60 years instead of 200, doesn't mean it isn't history. History starts 1 minute ago.

I appears that either of them can see better than you, because you keep trying to skirt the rules and bring this back up. For someone who questions others education, you make a lot of mistakes by assuming much, and knowing little.

I'm not sure why dockside even has rules anymore regarding politics. It seems every damn thread people can't keep them out and then try to find douchey loopholes to their inability to have any interaction without interjecting politics.

Runaway female black slaves could register as members of a political party? News to me.
