My wife was a model and fitness guru, formerly a private detective, started her own consulting business and did well. Confident, smart, gorgeous, hard-working. I won the marriage lottery and didn't mind paying heavily for it, I could have bought exotic cars for what she spent on clothes and vacations. I could not have found a side piece as hot and good to me as she was, so that was never a consideration.

She wanted a big boat and I got her a bigger one, a small yacht, and it didn't cost me nearly what she did, but I loved both. She passed away last year and I sold the boat this spring, on to other adventures now, and a smaller, older boat.

A beautiful woman who you are in love with and loves you, is going to cost you plenty, but never break you. A boat, no matter how much you love it and pour your heart into it, can still let you down and cost you more than you can afford.

Truly sorry for your loss. It sounds like you did win the marriage lottery.

Both of em are more trouble than their worth but im a glutton for punishment

For a true test, get a couple of each.
Now, which one wants to kill you?

Another test....
Lock your dog and your woman in the trunk. Come back an hour later.
Now, which one wants to kiss you, and which one wants to kill you?

I think my wife has saved me more money than she has spent in our entire marriage because she actually makes me think about purchases. If it were up to me alone I would be riding around in a 27 twin powered CC on a 20 year loan like everyone else. In the grand scheme of things I am much better off financially because of her so I think its all about who you marry.

My wife definitely costs me more because my boats (knock on wood) have been very dependable. But my wife's spending is usually on other people, family, so I can't complain too much....

Women can cost more...boats can cost more. It depends.
My wife makes more than me, so....even though she spends a LOT..she's earned it!

30West...reading your post made me shed a tear this morning...sorry for your loss.

No contest, WOMEN
Went through an ugly divorce with a screw loose scorched earth wife. Cost me a Feeman and a half.

Paulswagelock 11-08-2019 05:07 AM

I started with simple ones and moved up to more sophisticated ones. Some were new, some were previously used. Some broke down some stayed perfect. Have spent plenty of money acquiring, maintaining and parting with them. Had one die on me in the middle of the ride. Overall, loved them all, and will have one always.

Yes, describing my boats and wives.

I won in the marriage lottery too. My wife loves me more than anything.
Doesn't understand men or how we work all that well but is faithful as a dog.

If you have good friends, they will let you use their boat, and wife, and girlfriend. Costs much less.

anonymous_coward 11-08-2019 05:44 AM

The reason I have a boat in the first place is to get away from the little woman.

Omarf4 11-08-2019 05:53 AM

Every time I buy a new boat, I have to buy her a new car otherwise it’s bitching and complaining about how much was spent on the boat until I compensate her with a participation award....

f’ing money pits......

Locke N Load 11-08-2019 07:02 AM

A simple formula. What boat do you currently have? What boat would you have if you were single? What is the difference in value of boats? Cost/value of the woman? Total difference?

For me - Free boat work in progress. Nor-Tech 392 Superfish. $600k. Negative $1mil I'd guess. $1.6mil in the red. But what would I do without her...
