Default Anyone here use Clear at the airport?

I signed up to try it. Not really sure it is worth $180 a year for what you get. Yes I did go to the front of the line, but the line was short anyways. I suppose if you travel every week and also have TSA pre check then it probably worth it. Now to put on my tin hat, I just gave away all my fingerprints, hand prints and retinal scans to who knows who. Your thoughts?

They swindled me into it last time I was at the airport, but only before they told me that it costs money for a service that I basically get for free already (front of the line) flying Southwest.

I promptly canceled and changed my personal information. I only regret they now have my fingerprints and retina scan.

Don’t need it in Tampa (TSA pre is like <5 mins here) and I don’t fly often enough for work but I do work in an industry with VERY frequent fliers.

The guys I know that have it and live in cities with airports where it makes sense LOVE it.

I know a guy that walked up to the TSA Pre line in Atlanta and it was easily over a 30 minute wait. Walked over to clear, signed up, and was thru security in like 5 minutes. Time is money when there’s free vodka in the sky club.

Clear is great! I have used it since inception. Flying out of Orlando I am able to avoid all the Disney tourists and long lines. I hate lines and will do just about anything to avoid them. Clear is worth the money!

We're good with just TSA Precheck....but the airports we use 95% of the time...home base is T.F. Green in Warwick RI which is a small airport, long lines never a problem. And our usual destination is Tampa FL...which has always moved very quick for us.

I'm sure if you frequently use some other larger airports that have long slow moving lines even for TSA Pre.....Clear would be a good option and worth it!

I’m with PXman. Living in the Central Florida area and flying out of Orlando a lot makes Clear well worth it. I’m coming up on 3,000,000 miles on Delta alone so I fly a good bit and avoiding the awful lines that can be in the Orlando airport from tourists is well worth the money. Clear is available at a number of other airports across the country and it is really helpful if you were in a hurry. Between Clear and TSA Pre it just makes travel that much less miserable.

Tip for anyone that is going to sign up for it. They give you a free 30 day trial, if you go online and cancel it, they lower the price to $119. Save yourself $60

First class and you goto the left of the line in tpa and most major airports don't have to take off shoes or anything. I'll stick with that

I fly weekly in and out of LGA/JFK/ORD/DFW/DTW/DCA. I would pay double what they charge to avoid the lines for security. TSA alone doesn't help much, as a lot of people have it.

Flying regularly out of JFK and LGA it is well worth the $180 a year.

Amen, first class is the only thing left that makes traveling by commercial air bearable.

Don’t do it. Nobody else should either. I really don’t want more folks getting in that line like they’ve done with TSA precheck.

I really don't think anyone should have to pay extra for a better service from the government. It encourages laziness on their part and resentment among those who don't have the need or can't afford it.

Especially when it comes to US Customs. They serve a huge purpose anywhere outside of the airport, but in the airport they're just a bunch of miserable government drones. I'm not a casual traveler and could go on for hours about it.

I've never had to wait more than a few minutes with TSA precheck, and with status I skip the lines at American and Southwest anyway. I fly almost every week.

So when Pre check first came out, it was nice. Now it seems everyone has it.... but half the people in the pre line have no clue what to do with airport security. It has me scratching my head why they have it.

I was holding off signing up for clear since it wasn't at my home airport EWR. I flew out Tuesday and they finally had it, so I signed up that morning. As a united premier gold member, it's only 109 a year. To be honest I almost wish it was more, I want barriers to entry on clear so it stays useful. Nobody fling once a year will even think about paying it. I think very frequent travelers need every advantage possible to get around the hoards of idiots in security.

I didn't give away my fingerprints with clear.. in NJ they already had em from my fire arms ID application. Now they have my eye image... oh well not sure the issue. If 30 years later they have something bad to do with it, they'd probably have them another way anyway.

I'm sure it depends on the airport. My wife and split up, I do TSAPrecheck, she does Clear. Most of the time we end up at the scanners withing a person or two of the same time. Maybe 5% of the time she is ahead by 5 minutes, never more. I have beat her once...
