Default Scam?

Just answered a “unknown “ phone call...said they were following up on a purchase I made through amazon several months back. Offered a $50 visa to submit a positive review on the product...original item was around $450 if I remember correctly. They had my address which I confirmed.

was this legit?

its probably legit. most I've had offered was a "chance to win" a 50 dollar visa.

Did they know your name?
Did they know what you had purchased?
If yes to both then tell them. "Sure. Send it to the address where the purchase was delivered."

maybe I misheard Her (or they were intentionally obscure)...I suspect what you describe is more likely.

I'd tell them to leave the goats alone and go get more curry.

You can always go back and change your review if you don't win the card.

I'm going to say it's for realsies.

I was contacted via long email by some chick regarding a negative review for a Cowin noise cancelling headset. It was junk and broke after a month + 1 day.
I threw it away. Well she wanted to send me a brand new updated set and if I liked it, just remove the negative review. The new set cost $130 more than the original. I saw no way to get scammed so I said sure. 3 days later a rocking headset arrives at my door. Killer sound but a little heavier than the ones I originally ordered.
For the hell of it I mentioned wanting the lighter set so she sent me that in a cool gold color. I'm a big fan of Cowin headsets now.

Call the number of the seller / product and ask them. Info could have been sold.

I have gotten those offers before and like mentioned it was always a chance to win so I just say no. If they want to pay me for my time they need to actually pay me.

BTW this is how the process should work. Hunter Boots send me free products once a quarter in exchange for my honest review. Here's the latest one. I get the product for free and then as long as I post a review within 30 days I get another free product (pick from their list) next quarter.

Thank you for participating in the latest Hunter’s The Preview Panel. Your chosen product is being packaged up and will be shipped to you soon. When your product is shipped you will receive a tracking number for your reference.

We're looking forward to receiving your product and can’t wait to hear your honest feedback.

You will receive another email with details on how to submit your reviews. We value your genuine feedback, good or bad, especially reviews that include photos of your experience.
