Ate at Popeyes for the 1st time in Columbus GA. Not impressed. Their Chicken strips were gross. They were out of several dipping sauces. Took way too long to get our food. 3 workers handling the drive thru, register and cooking.

They are building a new one in my city, across the street from Chik-fil-a and next to Zaxby’s. Can’t imagine it will do well.

The local Popeyes near me is clean and well run. I stop by about once every two weeks for a spicy chicken breast and cole slaw for dinner. They make some of the best fried chicken. There are a few of the celebrity chefs that claim they are the only fast food they will eat. That being said, who is going to wait in line for a half hour for a chicken sandwich, wait a couple days and drive right up

I believe the meat is tested. It has to a dose that is below allowable level when processed. You cannot grow a chick to market size in 6 weeks without hormones.

In theory, all chickens have hormones so you are correct. However, no added harmones are used. Its illegal. Chickens do grow to market size in 6 weeks without added hormones. Chickens grow quickly and also have been bred to grow quickly. All this talk is making me hungry.

He might have been referring to antibiotics but the comment is still a stretch to say the least. Will let you know when I am around. I live across the road from you now. Actually, I like that Red Dragon Brewery!

I have never eaten at a Popeye's nor do I expect to and I do not understand why anyone would wait that long for a piece of chicken.

It's not wait in line worthy, but Popeyes is pretty damn delicious. On the chicken tender hierarchy, they're up near the top without question. Problem is their employees generally suck as compared to Chick Fil A or even Bojangles. Around here most of our Popeyes tend to be newer and pretty nice, but I have been to a few in the hood or at truck stops that were run down.

When one judges a chicken tender establishment, one must also consider the array and quality of dipping sauces available. In my personal opinion, Bo's is 1A with their outstanding honey mustard and Bo sauce, while Chick Fil A comes in strong at 1B with their Chick Fil A sauce. The crispiness of Popeyes tenders I think trumps both, but their sauces do lag behind a half step. And Bo's sauce tubs are large enough you have room to put the tender in and waller it around, ensuring adequate coverage. CFA and Popeyes are too small and thus cause a not insignificant volume of sauce to be expelled from the container when you try to dip.

Important considerations when one is choosing a chicken tender establishment.

Only chicken I have waited in line for was Hattie B's in Nashville. That was worth the wait.

Love some hot/fresh spicy thighs from popeyes. Save the skin for desert. As long as the wife does not know.

Have not had the chicken sandwich from Popeyes or chic-fil-a. Will try at some point.

That's definitely on my list.

I waited for about an hour to get in to Willie Mae's in New Orleans and would gladly do it again.

Being in the chicken business & having sold Popeye’s in the past, I was excited to try the Popeye’s Chicken Sandwich. The portion size and bun were very good. I was disappointed that a company built around a signature seasoning failed to use it on the breast portion, instead relying on mayo based sauce for the flavor.

As for chicken tender, I encourage you to try Foosackly’s, with stores in Mobile, Pensacola, & Auburn. Here is nice write up on them from Southern Living.
