Anything you guys can tell me or recommendations?

When are you going? One of my buddies is from there and would be a good reference but he is actually over there now for two weeks. He's looking at an island getaway property. He showed it to me, beautiful 3 bedroom with a pool on a private island 150 feet above the water - $200K! When he comes back I'll ask him for some recommendations.

my girlfriend and my cousin are going there in Feb, they are planning to go to an elephant sanctuary, do a tour of temples, a cooking class and a beach tour.

girlfriend looked up a well recommended guide, who helped her pick things out.

the sanctuary you can do one day or 7 or more.

I can get you names if you are interested.

The tiger sanctuaries where you can get up close and personal to cubs and adults, as-in holding Cubs. Money buys you that access.

Fishing is so so.. We did great but I was on the only Freeman in Thailand and went over 250 miles round trip in one day out of Pataya City. Mixed bag of Cobia, Kings, Pompano and a few grouper style ground fish. We had live squid but slow jigging out-fished the live bait. Sailfish, Marlin and the like have been decimated to feed the shrimp farms.

Unless your wife is into seeing hookers, stay out of the "Bars". The adams apple thing isn't a sure thing as they can get them removed. The tall ones with big hands could have a pecker.

Street food and all food there is great in my opinion. Most people don't cook in because it's cheaper and better to eat out.

Don't drink water from the faucet. I got sick from brushing my teeth.

Dirt cheap to be there unless you want to stay/eat at 4-5 star

Enjoy! It's a great place.

Avoid August unless you like it super hot and muggy and rainy.

If you're into food, along w/ Parts Unknown look up Andy Ricker of Pok Pok fame. Wrote a book also.

Visited Thailand maybe 10 times for work meetings. Got ill from the food/water every time. Got real careful but obviously my gut didn't deal with the bugs there. Food is great but I would be careful with anything chicken or shellfish at least. Only use name brand bottled water if cooking, drinking etc.
If you play golf you could try night golf in Bangkok. Beautiful courses and really pleasant caddies normally. Phuket is nice but too touristy for me. There are some beautiful small islands you can day cruise to and swim at etc from Phuket. You may not want to look at the boats too hard before boarding, but some awesome snorkeling opportunities even of the fish life is a bit depleted in some areas.

I don't have any info on Thailand, but if you enjoy group touring, I would suggest check out Gate 1 travel......they provide accommodations, meals, transportation and top notch guides
they put the entire package together ..........might be worth a look see

we just returned from an 11 day trip to Colombia and they really take the hassle out of it, we had a blast traveling with retired folks and made some good friends
there was 28 folks in our group......
