Cajuns don’t eat boiled peanuts. It’s a redneck thing.

One big pot of peanuts, small jar jalapenos vinigar and all, a few slices of bacon, a tablespoon or two of Cajun seasoning and salt. Not sure about real Cajuns but that's how I do them.

Jar of jalapeños, drain juice (juice leaves a vinegar taste I don’t like), zatrains season pouch, and boil like you usually do. I do mine slow in a croc pot. If you like old bay, that does fine too.

No... more like 4-6 hours or so.... then let them steep down to room temp. Thats when they take up the seasoning and salt. During the steeping process.

I cook 35Lb sacks of green peanuts in a crawfish boiling pot. Pot sizes and peanuts vary so this may not work for you. I fill until peanuts are covered with about 6" water. Add 2 cups salt and 2 cups premixed zatarans crab boil and about 1/2 cup liquid crab boil. Slow boil for about 2 hrs and start testing until you like them.

Big pot stove top or cut recipe in half. Boil about 5 hours or so untl peanuts start tol get soft then let them sit on low until the shells get permiated and they sink. Careful to not over salt or spice. Can always add later. Like 8 or so hours total.

Boiled peanuts need some pork flavor, preferability smoked neck bones, available at WalMart.

It's a southern thing.

But, with all the boiled food served up there it might just catch on...

P.S. Don't eat the shells.

Grew up 50 miles south of New Orleans in Houma, LA and never saw a "cajun boiled peanut" until I moved to Florida.

From Cajun territory, home of the Boucherie, we have never boiled peanuts. I have never actually eaten one. My husband and son tried them at a
deer lease in Union Church, Ms. Neither of them liked them. We only eat them roasted. Not saying Cajuns don’t cook or eat them, just never in my 50 years have seen or heard of them cooked that way down here.

Its not that Cajuns boiled them... or even eat them. Its that they are spiced with typical cajun spices. Some people use Zatarans shrimp boil. Some go out on their own and use spices they associate with Cajun food. SO lets call them Cajun spiced boiled peanuts.

Just need to clarify......

Are the 4 beers for the peanuts or for the cook?
