Default My new adventure

A friend went back North for a couple weeks and asked us if we would check on their house occasionally and water some of their plants if needed. The first time we went there I saw their swimming pool and thought, if she knew that someone went skinny dipping in her pool she would have a seizure so in I went. It was the first time I had gone swimming in around six years. While in the pool I noticed something! I have vertigo and have to be very careful with my movements but while in the pool I could do movements I can't do out of water. I tried this on three different times there and it was the same each time. WOW.

I had been needing to do some exercise and we even joined the Y a couple months ago but other than a slow treadmill walk there was nothing I could do so we never went there. After the pool experience I had a revelation, the Y offered water aerobics, that should be good exercise I could do so I went and signed up for the classes. On my first class I was the first one there and was already in the pool when the rest of the class started coming in. The rest of the class ended up being 14 women, the youngest being 67 year old, the oldest 86 and all outweighing me. I thought crap this ain't gonna work, I need exercise not a social dip in the pool but I stayed. As the class started and we did these silly movements in the water I thought how did this crap get started, it is only for old heavy women not men. By the end of the 90 minute class though I had a change of mind, the old women were still moving like they did at the start of the class and I wasn't sure I would be able to get out of the pool without help even after cheating on some of the exercises. I made it out of the pool with a lot more respect for the old women and was very sore the next morning. I have now completed six classes and I can almost keep up with the old women.

I hope the water wasn't too cold.

I still try to swim 3-5 times a week. Mostly do my own thing but I did do aerobics at the local high school pool for 3 or 4 years. Same deal, lot of women, most on heavy side but a few easy on the eyes. Was a pretty good workout!

This is why context is so important.
