No you can not just head over there and claim salvage on the boat. You have to in some way agreed to it with the owner. That gets tricky for owners who aren't sure what they're agreeing to

I would guess with the leaking fuel and flooded boat this will no longer be a towing situation and will be a salvage situation for the tow company that they'll work with the insurance company on

I know this boat. It pulled into my marina 2 years ago. This guy and his GF or wife have been working on it ever since. They seemed nice. Thing did smoked like crazy when he started it. Vintage diesels, maybe 6v53s? and in 2 years never left the dock. The Marina is in Fort Pierce very close to the inlet. The Marina wanted all boats to move, but about half stayed with no where to go. I guess he decided to leave!!! Crazy with all the work he has put into it. Guess he just gave up.

You may want to research this a bit deeper. Maritime laws trump all state and federal laws.

However this particular situation may not apply since the boat is basically in a park... not the ocean or navigable coastal waters.

Geez, check out is FB page now. Responding to a "dude" who suggested this looked like insurance fraud: " Guess what dude everything I own is paid for and I could buy a brand new Hatteras if I wanted to.
When you can buy a home next door to me in palm beach then come talk to me. In addition where is your Hatteras Yacht
I’m sure if you even had one it’s paid in full like mine." Pretty much confirms my suspicions. .

for those not on facebook, here is some of what you are missing:

Joseph McGrath · Jason Suttle First of all dude I could buy that entire marina over there.
And I only keep liability insurance on the boat.

Jason Suttle · 0:00 Joseph you could buy the entire marina.... but you only carry liability...

Joseph McGrath · Jason Suttle Guess what dude everything I own is paid for and I could buy a brand new Hatteras if I wanted to.
When you can buy a home next door to me in palm beach then come talk to me. In addition where is your Hatteras Yacht .
I’m sure if you even had one it’s paid in full like mine. .

Mike Dag · Joseph McGrath you woud have been better risking it with anchors

Joseph McGrath · Mike Dag no anchor would’ve held the area is notorious for anchor drag. I’m going to go there tomorrow and see what’s left.
The problem is even if my anchors did hold a lot of the other both congested in the area may have had anchors that didn’t hold and then that would been a torpedo headed towards my boat.
Running into the beach was the most logical decision at the time.

Joseph McGrath was live.
September 1 at 6:38 PM · Relocating to safety from hurricane Dorian.
Shortly after this video a storm blew through with incredible winds and rain from behind us. The waves went from this to 30+ feet and I nearly capsized the yacht multiple times and we took on damages.
This is going to be a very deadly storm.

Jim Smith · I talked to you after you beached your boat. I'm sure or hope you're aware of this already.. Just tracked you down.. I'm the woman in the white truck that talked to you about the tide

Jim Smith · I was the women you asked "how high does the water get" unfortunately you didn't listen to ALL of the people telling you "this is not going to work" including me. This actually happened a little over an hour after you left yesterday.

  • Joseph McGrath · The most important thing is that this boat is not laying in the middle of somebody’s house. And nobody was injured and I feel that is all that’s important.
I beached it for safety issues. This was recommended by the managing marina officials over there and the sheriffs prior to doing so.

He has so much money he didn’t have a hurricane haul out in place already?? He doesn’t deserve to own a Hatteras or any boat for that matter, or enjoy the benefits of mother nature’s beauty. Maybe Mother Nature will find some karma in Palm Beach

My question is what good is beaching it there going to do? (obviously none) But if you're gonna do that why not just tie it off? I mean if it hits the tide/surge is gonna move it anyway right?

Default This boat was my uncle's aunt and mine

The boat was my family boat stolen from me by Joseph James Mcgrath age 51 out out Cleveland ohio. He is a fake/professional/dreamer con artist. He tries to steal houses from people and puts renters in them and so on. He has an extensive criminal history and he shouldn't be on earth any longer. He beached this boat roomer came to me and yes he usually pulls insurance fraud as he can. And has pulled insurance fraud when he stole the boat from me with a fake bill of sale during hurricane matthew. Anyone needing info let me know feel free thanks.
