Default BVI yacht charter

We are thinking of a week sailboat charter for our honeymoon. I'm concerned the boat would be too small. I don't think I can do a 50+ catamaran. Just too much coin, I think. Has anybody done a 40-45' monohull sailboat? I'm just concerned we'll be tripping over the captain the entire time. I don't mind hanging out with the captain, but i also want to be able to get away for couples time. Any advice/experience?

Other than Moorings any other reputable companies I should look at? I envision sailing the islands, swimming, bar hopping, etc. Any must sights would be appreciated.

For a Honeymoon Charter any sailboat in the 40' + range with a Captain and mate will be little too cozy.
There are crewed charters available where the captain and crew are with you during the day, move the boat, cook a lunch, clean up etc. get you safely moored in a neat spot and then they go home for the night. Leaving you to dine out and enjoy the evening alone on your charter boat.
The day crew approach makes a 40' plus boat perfect for one couple.
There are many charter guides online for crewed charters in the Virgin Islands. Check them all out, the Moorings is a long way from having the crewed charter market cornered.
Talk to a number of operators before you book.

What is your budget? Their are a few different routes and options you can go? You might want to look at a smaller crewed charter boat run by a husband and wife

You're MUCH better off going on a Cruise on a megaship as opposed to going on a charter with a captain and crew. To go on a mono hull, you need at least a 50' boat to have enough room. Even that, and it's too close. Seriously, I would do a cruise, get a suite, and you can have ALL the privacy you want.

Id go to bitter end yacht club and just take a couple day trips on the dive boats. They used to have a fleet of small whalers you could run around on too. Ive done the captained chartered thing in the BVI and it def gets old quick.

we did a bvi sail cat in July. It was 45' total of 3 couples. no way i would want a capt with me on cat or mono But especially on a mono. at least on the 25' wide cats there is elbow room and private spaces.

Just in case you change your mind about sailing, and would like to charter a motor yacht.....

Here is the company we have used several times. We really enjoyed the 56’ powercat.

Unfortunately the Bitter End does not exist anymore. Hurricanes got it two years ago.
Hopefully they will be back someday.
