By the looks of it there are quite a few people involved in some form of motorsports on this forum. I don’t care if you are racing lawnmowers or top fuel funny cars. Post about it here. Share pictures, stories of the good old days, your next race, what is next on the maintenance list, anything motorsports related.
I used to race on a dirt oval in the limited division. It was a street stock class that required a rear wheel drive car with DOT approved tires. The engine was a mild 350 with a 2 barrel Rochester carb.

I used to go to the South Florida fairgrounds speedway in the 70’s. Nice, fast, paved 1/2 mile short track. But developments got close and a-holes started bitching about the noise, so the racing got shut down. Sad. I would have loved to have built a car with my 3 boys take there.

I raced both NHRA & IHRA in top dragster for about 5 years.
Started out in a 245 inch Nelson swingarm car with a 540 alcohol motor, switched to a 638 with 2 stages of nitrous. Wanted to go heads up racing instead of brackets so I picked up a 280 inch mike bos dragster. Had mike Stawicki do up a 526 Keith Black Hemi with a blower & carbon injector hat. Ran 3.90's in the eighth & 6.12 in the qtr. Had a blast. It was one of the greatest hobbies I have ever had, the adrenaline rush was amazing. Just wanted to go as fast as I could every pass.

I took it to the Woodword Cruise , the first year they had it , it was a blast .
Burn outs at every corner/ stoplight , everything was cool the first year , then they shut it down , gave out tickets if you even squeaked your tires .

Yeah , mine was a GT-40 crate engine with a B&M Powercharger 140 (I think ) , and a Holley 750 , with the five speed tranny , it was a blast to drive on the street .

Mine was a stock 5.0, stock heads (GT40 valves), stock cam, Cobra Intake, 65 TB, 75 MAF, full exhaust, 3.73s, full leather interior, power everything. Only made 256/295 on a dyno and was around 3100 lbs, but it runs like a
scalded dog. 12.50 on ET Streets, 12.90s on those 18" street tires. The best part with the stock cam, it was mild on the street and never had any running issues. Still own it, but for the most part it's stored/covered and not in use.
