Default Tijuana trip

A while back I talked about my son and I going to tj for the day. A lot of people on here said not to go.

well we went no scary stories to tell, felt safe the entire time. Saw no migrants had fun and great food. We had a huge plate of nachos tacos and quesadillas and four beers for only $15 dollars. Beers were only $.90 cents.

I would go back in a heartbeat. The only mistake we made was not getting sentry passes which I new nothing about. We had to wait inline for two hours on the way back if we had, had the sentry passes it would have taken 10 minutes.

If you behave and stay away from shady areas and known bad activities most of Mexico is fine, even TJ. Getting a Sentry pass takes a little effort and time. Did you drive across?

Great food town, and not just Mexican. Next time though try Ensenada, good food, great boat stuff and good fishing.

I went and hunted down the shady places. I was 21 maybe, young.

The high point was convincing my buddy not to try and trade his maglite and his Cali ID for a blowjob at the end of the night.

We saved $2 for the next day to get home. Saw some dude selling "fresh OJ" which looked incredible and got a giant cup with the last $2 to our names. It was ****ing kool aid with a few orange slices floating in it.

Ive never been back, but I would go as a guys trip again in a heartbeat.

Many on here feel if you leave your gated subdivision, you WILL be kidnapped or worse.

Glad you had fun! I love Mexico.

Dude Tijuana is awesome and so much fun. Good cheap food / beers, cheap places to stay, friendly people.

Yeah, smaller bars still have dirt floors. It's just awesome. Never had a single issue been there plenty of times and traveled quite a few places in MX just rollin through the desert in lifted trucks.

Somebody looked at Wikipedia this morning...

The difference is in Syria they'll kill you just for being an American.

Detroit, Baltimore, New Orleans, and St. Louis are also on that prestigious list.

Chicago was strangely absent, but that's just because it's a rate.

In the areas affected by the narcos - yeah don't go there - the majority of the rest of MX is still a completely reasonable destination.

My wife is from Tamaulipas and we used to visit several times a year for long weekends/Christmas etc. We still go to Playa/Cozumel/Merida but haven't been in Tamps in 9 years now, bad, bad times down there.

When I used to do a lot of work on NAS North Island, Coronado I use to do a fair bit of TJ - I have nothing but good stories to tell. We always used to go to liquor stores to get hammered and bars to have fun.

Dead is dead... Reasons don't matter. I'm avoiding high risk...

It's not high risk. Really no different than New Orleans. Avoid the bad parts and use common sense, just as you would anyway.

Reasons do matter if you want to make sure you're not one of the dead ones. Learn the reasons for the murder and you'll learn how to avoid situations where you might get murdered.

If you wanted to find trouble, it would certainly be very easier. But it's even easier to just avoid it.

I won't be walking from the French Quarter to Willie Mae's anytime soon again. That was dumb.
