I just think the details that are sometimes added that aren't pertinent are funny:

"This weekend we were on our way to the shore house in our F-eleven thousand platinum and I got a call on my iPhone XR400 from my boat mechanic saying engine #2 had a scratch on the cowling. Anyone know the paint color for a Yamaha 350? I'll pop open my MacBook pro and order it and get it sent to our place on the Gulf and have him take care of it"

Vs:

"Anyone know what paint color Yamaha uses on its cowlings?"

See the difference....it's just funny. And now that it's a thing I notice it every time and chuckle.!

I think some people are not understanding the difference between “bragging “ & “humble-bragging”

if your super stoked that you just picked up your 39 Freeman and want to tell me about it, that’s cool. Would love to hear it...

but don’t work it into an unrelated story and not expect to get your balls busted a little...

I think calling Humble Brag can be jealousy sometimes.
But whatever you do, never finance a depreciating asset!
Just pay cash, like I do.

Honestly I don’t even know how to humblebrag. I mean seriously I’m probably the most humble person I know. You can ask anyone that knows me and they’d say I’m really the most humble person they’ve ever met. It’s pretty amazing truthfully.

99.9% of the time it’s jealousy.

Ha...I definitely deserve that.

Depends on what it is. I have expensive hobbies so have to be a cheapass on everything else. Except vacations and food. And food on vacations.

There's a not so fine line between envy and jealousy. Most of the negative comments seem to be on the wrong side of that line. I seriously want a helicopter and I envy the people who have one but I don't have a problem with the fact that they can afford one and I really can't.

What you call humblebrag today we would say about someone, "they like to wear their tags on the outside."

There's a whole sub-culture that has to wear clothes with the makes symbol or name printed on it. To me it says "Look at me! I'm a gullible dumass"

If you've ever gotten into a text war with a girlffriend or wife you know how common miscommunication can be in texting. Sites like THT are only slightly better because people are either too lazy or not articulate enough communicate thier point with written words in thier intended tone.

A common question on here that gets accused of humblebragging.... "I have $XX to do something with...."

If it's worded like:

- "What do I do with this extra $30K I have in my bank account? Do I repair my roof, invest in the market, or pre-pay my kid's college"..... then it is going to be labled humblebragging

OR

- "I managed to save $30K but it is not enough to pay for everything I need to do to take care of my family. I can't pay my kids college and repair my roof too. I'm really trying to figure this out without paying someone to tell me what I should do".... maybe it's better huimblebragging but maybe it's a request for advice due to a person not being in a position of having a windfall before nor expect to ever have it again.

... I have this same conundrem, just with $100K but my roof is large and my daughter wants to go to a prviate school
