Default Update me please on Samsung and LG refrigerators

even tho they are heavily advertised, and on sale by lowes and HD many people used to say (a few years ago) not to buy since it was hard to get them fixed, weeks for refrigerator repair for example- but they are still on display for sale in many stores, not just big box stores- samsung had issues with some of the refrigerators- a small tab was missing that caused the coil to freeze up.

repair people I have talked to hate them due to cant get parts.

so whats the current verdict? safe to buy?? from buyers in last 3 years?

Curious as well. Having kitchen remodeled in November. Planned to use all Samsung appliances. Already bought the new Samsung stove last month to replace the GE that died after 15+ years. The motherboard went on the GE and they can't get replacement parts. Bought a Samsung based on coworkers feedback.

I hope the Samsung’s are good as I just bought a complete kitchen set for one of my rentals. At home, my LG fridge is good after seven years or so.

I bought a big Samsung fridge about 6 years ago. In door ice maker quit working. I kid you not, after 17 phone calls to Tech Support, I gave up.........

Just about to start using the all new LG kitchen after a big re-model so we'll see what happens.....

I will never have anything LG again and there are tons of bad review on this forum for Samsung.

I would stick with Whirlpool or Maytag.

Know a few people with Samsung fridges and they’ve had some issues.

They seem to have more problems then the others. I've installed all brands and the best advice I can give is keep it simple. Don't go for the model with all the bells and whistles.

I bought top of the line LG front load washer and dryer about 5 years ago. I did have a problem and then started searching, and saw all the bad reviews, BUT the problem ended up being a bad breaker on my end! No problems at all. About 1-1/2 years ago bought top of the line MacDaddy LG refrigerator, no problems at all. About 3 months ago bought LG dishwasher and also no issues. Don’t believe everything you read. I would buy LG again. My dishwasher even pushes me notifications to tell me the load is done! Crazy!

I've got an LG that is now 9 years old, it works great, my only complaint is this:

If you leave a door ajar after 30 seconds or so a beep (alarm sounds), if you are more then 20' away from this alarm you'll never hear it. With that alarm if you don't close the doors properly within a few seconds the unit with the open door will turn off.

I've woken up to warm milk more then once and half melted ice cream at least once. Other then that issue I've had no problem with mine.

We have 2 Samsung fridges. One for 9 years and the other 6 months. Only complaint is they can't control temperatures. I set them at a reasonable freezer temperature to prevent having ice cream too hard to dip. Doesn't matter...you can't get ice cream out without a chain saw or dynamite.

We went Samsung during our last kitchen remodel (stove, French door fridge and microwave).

6 years later the microwave is gone. The stove has one burner that is all or none and the gasket on the door doesn't seal all the way (replaced under warranty a couple times). Had to replace the fridge ice maker and replace the main board on the fridge (warranty). Also have a small towel that lives on the floor next to the left front side of the fridge to soak up the water that doesn't ice up under the deli tray - the drain to the evap tray freezes up causing water to accumulate under the deli tray where it typically freezes...when the water/ice fills the underneath area of the deli tray, the rest of the water runs out and dribbles onto the floor (known problem Samsung has never warrantied).

I'll never buy another Samsung kitchen appliance.

I’m not so certain that those container trips they take from Korea don’t cause some problems, but the Samsung appliances I’ve had are long gone, replaced by Maytag or KitchenAid. No more Korean appliances, including cell phones.

If you buy an LG product you will regret it. If you think I'm wrong do some research. LG is 100% garbage.

I have had very bad luck with Samsung.

We had one of the giant 4-door units that we bought from Best Buy. The first one failed after 11 months. Non-field-replaceable-unit, so they had to replace it under warranty. Next one lasted about 2 years and it too had to be replaced. Third one lasted 3 years and had to have a number of on-site visits from Home-Tech to get it fixed.

My brother manages appliances at Lowe’s and he says to stay away from Samsung as well. His recommendations were Whirlpool and Frigidaire.
