Default Where to stay in Vegas

Going with the wife to Phoenix for her work for a few days then renting a car, stopping at Grand Canyon on way to Vegas.

Never been to Vegas, what are a couple of good options of places to stay on the strip?
We will be there 3 days, would like to keep it under $200 a night if possible. Plan on some gambling, buffet, probably a show of some type and basic sight seeing / walking around.

Skip the buffet's, they are not at all worth it, far too many better options for food.

Venetian/Palazzo is a nice spot somewhat central to the strip. You can spend a week there and never go outside in terms of options for food, shopping, gambling, etc. Plus you can take a "boat ride" on the canals

Harrah's is a good second-tier option, IMO. It is also fairly central, fewer options in terms of food and the casino is not as large as others, but it is decent. The main upside to Harrah's is the Carnival Court bar right outside. Carnival Court is always a must-do when I am Vegas for at least one night, it is usually some kind of crazy shit show (in a good way). Last time I was there some mid-50s chick in good shape with a new rack was flashing for everyone to see (or feel), was a good time alongside the crazy cover band and dance floor full of drunk tourists.

Treasure Island is also a decent lower-budget place on the strip. The vibe can be very hit or miss though.

I was just at Treasure Island, last July. Will not stay there again. Got too much heat when playing craps.

I like the Paris because it is sort of in the center of the strip. Plus its nice. I used to stay at the Flamingo but the last time I stayed there the elevators were all jacked up and the room was a complete mess.

Get on Expedia, you should be able to find some good deals. Our favorite place to stay is the Cosmopolitan, only hotel in Vegas with balconies. We get one looking down at the Bellagio fountains. The rooms in the Cos are huge, parking is easy and plenty of places around to eat. You'll need to narrow down what show/s you want to see. LOVE was really cool, Zombie Brusque was hysterical.......

We went 7-8 years ago and stayed in a little place on the strip called the Jockey Club. It's between the Belagio and the Cosmopolitan. 2 bedroom condo with a full kitchen was about $90/night then. I didn't want to eat out every meal so we got a condo and had a grocery service deliver a bunch of food we ordered online......they even brought bourbon and coke!

Default The Signature at MGM

Huge rooms, no smoking in the buildings, large balconies with high floors overlooking everything. Private pools when you dont want to be at the main MGM pools. Free valet & parking etc.

My fav spot to stay in Vegas.

Attached to the mgm by the topgolf.
Uber everywhere.

and... the price is right.

I liked any of the MGM chains (Luxor, Mandalay Bay, Delano). In your price range.

My favorite is the linq. I’ve stayed at most of them, and this isn’t the fanciest or the nicest, but it’s in a good location and priced right.

The one time I went we stayed at golden nugget. Not on the strip but the strip is so big, my opinion you need transportation between alot of hotels. I liked being able to walk out of the hotel and easily walk to a few different bars/casinos.

If I'm spending my own money I like Mandalay Bay. If I'm on a company trip for a conference then it's more likely the Bellagio or Venetian.

There are some good recommendations so far......

I have stayed at many of the places listed..... The Signature, Mandalay Bay, Bellagio, MGM, etc. too many to list. I go there ALOT.

IMO, if you are looking to people watch, be in the middle of the action, not wear out a pair of shoes.... just getting to the lobby at some mega resort. The absolute best place is The Best Western Plus Casino Royale. Take a look at this gem on google maps. You will see it is across the street from Ceasar’s and the mall. Next to Venetian. Caddy corner from MGM, with entertainment right out the front door of casino.

Here is the biggest plus. The longest walk to your room from the strip is 2 minutes..... not half a mile. And it is the cheapest hotel on the strip. Oh... and the dated casino has the best odds on the strip. This place is old school and fun,

I have not been there in years, I used to stay at the Rio and Mandalay Bay.
