I go to a regional chain up here in RI, locally owned, been doing so for years. Always fair and if I have any trouble they are easy to deal with.

My vote would be for something similar.

For me my local Mr Tire blew away Tire Rack...and I've been using TR for a long time. BUT it all depends on what vehicle you need to retread and how you drive.

I got a local mom and pop tire place I get mine from here in southwest PA. They beat everyone's price, don't jerk you around on all the extra fees, and provide phenomenal customer service.

Give your local guy a shot. The big chains around here besides Sam’s & Costco are Discount Tire, Kauffman and Mavis. You can shop them all online and then see what your Mom n Pop shop can do I had a local guy who beat the chain stores every time and included alignment and life time R&B in his price. Found out he just sold out to Mavis Tire and moved to the beach. F@@k! I’m on the hunt for another place now too!

Just went through this. Discount Tire matched ANY price I found anywhere and even dropped that a couple bucks. They asked me if I wanted the hazard insurance (100$) for the life of the tires and I said no then he said "how about 75$" lol Great service and friendly (atleast my store) and make appointments.

I got a bad Michelin tire from tire rack, as part of a set. What a nightmare. Even the replacement was bad. I had 50,000 mile headache, or bodyshake as case was. I'll never do that again. I had to go BACK to my dealer 3 times trying to get it balanced. They couldn't balance it. Had to put tire on rear and live with it. The only person with skin in the game was me

I would bet they could. You can balance a concrete block but that doesn't mean that it will roll worth a damn at highway speeds. Out-of-round tires are not that rare. It should have been identified as that and replaced without question.

Emphasize on 'should '. I had been a loyal TR customer for at least four sets prior to my nightmare. And it was MY nightmare. They couldn't care less at TR and kept telling me what type of balancing I had to request. I went to at least two other tire shops trying to get it fixed.... In addition to four times at dealer. Dealer kept saying it was right. NOT!!!!

I'm the type who's very upset by sounds and vibrations. Michelin pilot sports are notarious for the out of round issues but please already. IF I had purchased them from installer I could have leaned on them. With TR and dealer not concerned I was besides myself.

Seems Tires are like anything else you buy today. Planned obsolescence. I used to be able to get good tires that would last 80k miles. now, lucky to get 20 before they start to look like it’s time to think about replacement. In my mind, this is by design. I believe that tire manufacturers COULD build a tire the would last 90k miles or more, but why would they? Much more profitable to sell a new set every 20 or 30k .

and Costco, I used them for awhile, until I had sidewall damage on a fairly new tire and they had dis-continued the Michelins I was using and didn’t have a replacement. And it seems Costco has their own unique models. I had a bitch of a time finding a matching replacement online,at considerably more cost. And then finding someone to mount it.
Done with that.

If they built tires out of women parts, they would never wear out...but always be a bit out of balance.
