Default Anyone named Dick, or name your kid that?

Anyone named Dick? For whatever reason, Dick is historically a nickname for Richard. Curious if anyone under 50 goes by that name, of if anyone has Dick as there actual given name (as opposed to Richard). Or, if anyone has kids that go by Dick.
Seems like it would be tougher for a kid with that name nowadays. Some people get offended when you use the term Jewfish, or Pocohontas, or other formerly OK words. I'm just wondering how long it will be before some PC group tries to abolish the use of "dick" as a term for male anatomy.

Dick Burton, Dick Trickle, Dick Nixon, VanDyke, Butkus, Clark, Vitalle, Cavett, Sargent, York, Vermeil.....but no young people.

I vote that you take over the roll of "Russ" here on THT!

Can I get a second?

Not too long ago I was looking through a family photo album at my mothers. She is 90 now so its a different generation. I ran across a picture of a man labelled "Dick Head" with a date. I am not lying. God strike me dead if this is not the honest truth. I will have to post a picture up to prove it but that is what it was labelled. My wife looked at it and looked at me sideways. Trying not to laugh I asked my Mom who "Dick Head" was and how we were related to him. She was very serious and told me he was a close friend of the family when she was growing up and he used to "hang out with her brothers". At this point I couldn't help it and busted out laughing. She had no clue what was so funny. She also used to say things to my dad like "you better wear your rubbers, it's supposed to rain", "Make sure you leave your rubbers at the door" etc. all of which made us kids laugh hysterically.

In college, I knew a girl who's last name was Dick. First name was Urlene and middle name was Edith. Yes that's right, Urelene Edith Dick. Try growing up with that name as a girl. Some parents just don't think. I doubt she kept her maiden name when/if she got married. Even Using first initials and last didn't help much on that one.

My aunt's 3rd (and last) husband was Richard Harder, or, Dick Harder as he was known. A great man who was like a second father to me. Spent a lot of time with them at their Vermont farm harvesting lumber, planting gardens, making maple syrup and building outbuildings.

So when I hear someone referred to as a "dick", it's difficult for me to think it as a negative.

I used to work with a guy named Richard North during college. When I saw his initials once, I asked what the E stood for (middle name). He told me it was Edward. From then on, I called him Dick-Ed. He wasn't pleased.....

Russ is the twice removed nickname derived from Richard. In other words, Russ is short for Dick. Just kidding, Russ......

Funny story; years ago the company I worked for their was the owner of the business named Richard, the Shop Foreman named Richard and then myself Richard!
Shop Fore was oldest so we called him Big Dick
The Owner was next so we called him Little Dick
Then me the youngest so they called me WeeWee
In all seriousness I have several people that respectfully call me Dick, doesn’t bother me. I go by Richard, Richie, Rich are Dick. I’m cool with any of them.

I wonder how exactly Richard became Dick. That makes no sense at all. Its like if a woman was named Susan and people called her Jane. Totally illogical.

No Dicks made it to the Name of the Year tournament. Yes, these are real names.

There was a time when sexual humor did not permeate every part of life.
