Default Snitch or good deed?

See something, say something?
Mind your own business?
It takes a village?
Van dude got what he deserved?
Worth calling the police?
Stop and give/show the police the video ... then take the chance the van dude will have your number and may retaliate.
If it was your truck that was damaged and egged, would you be thankful someone got involved?

Have you ever witnessed, gotten involved or ignored anything similar?
If you haven't but did see something, what would you do?

Too many variable for the poll so to keep it simple, you would: Get involved or Don't get involved.
There are many levels of, "Getting involved".

Decades ago my young son and I witnessed a male and female with young children spit and pour soda on a car they though was parked too close to them.
When they left the lot, I left a note on the parked vehicle with that drivers description and tag number.
I was not about to confront them because, having my young son with me, the damage was done and people like that are unpredictable and have no filter as to what they may do.

Read the youtube comments.

Waiting on wife...Obviously not a THT member so not much else to do, could be hours.

I would be grateful for the man's action were it my truck that got damaged. And maybe an egg thieving vandal would get some time in the jail.

Back in college in the 1980's, I saw a guy back into another car in the parking lot, so I got his tag number and vehicle description and told the campus police. I later learned that the perp had broken into the car and stolen some stuff, then backed into it while leaving as the final insult. Car owner was grateful.

The Misses and I have had this happen to us a couple of times now.. We have good parking spaces at the store front and are sitting in the vehicle discussing things when a woman driver pulls up and gives us "royal pissed off shit" for not moving so she can have our parking space. ... In both cases we weren't in the process of leaving, we were in the process of going shopping. I have also experienced this one time while I was by myself.

I've got to admit I've had a couple of parking spaces stoled out from under me while I was in the process of backing in......it's not the loss of the parking space that hurts so much it's the total lack or respect from a fellow human that gets under my skin.

I believe heavily in karma, I can leave any situation knowing nature will run its course. In my 32 years I can say that I’ve never encountered a situation where I felt I needed to ‘tell on someone’. Regardless of whatever action you see, there’s 2 sides to the story...sure seeing some guy pour a coke on a guys car might seem like a horrible thing, but maybe the car that he poured the coke on belonged to a guy that killed a school bus full of innocent old people. Of course that’s sarcasm and an outlandish scenario but if I can’t form a valid assessment, its not my business.

if he was waiting for his wife, then he left her at Walmart. He followed the minivan as soon as it left

Probably was still in there when he got back. If not, I bet he was unhappy that he got involved.

Think what you will, but I won't even drive up to the corner without my dashcam synced and recording. Just too many crazy mofos out there these days.

If no one ever got involved it would really be a free for all. Things are bad enough as it is. My vote was a good deed.

Sooooo, did his wife ever make it home that day?

As for the OP, yes I think it was appropriate to report it. If we wanna live in a decent society we have a duty to police each other (to an extent).

Unless it is a woman or an elderly person being yelled at, I am not gonna risk myself over two people both being idiots.

OK. Let me ask this one: I watch someone pulling a boat trailer into parking space and hit and damaged the trailer next to them. They get out and look at it and keep walking. Do I share what I saw with the damaged vehicles owner? In the form of a note with what I saw and the info on the offending vehicle?

or just keep walking like I didn’t see anything? I get it that stuff happens. But if I screw up, I own it. Not everyone thinks that way.

mind your own business... unless there was actual damage. In otherwords if the minivan backed into the truck and caused damage then yes report it.
