Default bank cashiers check

I have a boat for sale.
Just had a gentleman email me that he wants it.Said that he will pay bank cashiers check. And after it clears he will send a transport company to pick it up at his cost.
Am I being scammed?
thanks in advance,
jeff

Totally! Let me guess he has never seen the boat in person, no sea trial and is giving you full asking price correct? Tell him cash or you will go to the bank with him in person only. You will never hear from him again

Depends. I sold my last boat to an exporter that operated like this. More than likely a scam but you may want to poke at it a bit.

You are being scammed , only way to do a bank check is if you can take it to the bank its generated by . Wire transfer only . Your bank will clear the check and in a couple weeks it comes back bad , end of story .

What you will receive will be a check drawn on a commercial account but made to look like a cashiers check. The check may say it is a Cashier’s Check but it will not be. The check will clear the bank because the account is valid and funds are available. Later, when the business reconciles their bank statement they will notice the missing funds from their account. The business will file a claim with their bank, their bank will contact your bank, your bank will take the funds out of your account to send to their bank, leaving you high and dry.

x2....I deal with wire transfers on a daily basis and I would definitely recommend that route over a cashiers check! No matter what bank the check is supposedly written by....

Did they want you to pay the transporter too so they will make the check for more than boat purchase?

He already has your email. Now he wants your full name, address and phone number.

Emailing back was a mistake. Mark as SPAM and move on.

I had a truck for sale once. Guy sent me a cashiers check and said he would fly in and drive it home. My bank said the check was a fake. I sold the truck to the next cash buyer. Turns out my bank was wrong and check was legit. The guy was super angry. Non-Refundable ticket and missed out on a sweet ride. Not everyone is a scammer.

So my fj40 by cashier's check. The buyer was on the board of directors of the bank and they laughed at me when I called to verify the check. Worked out fine for me. I'd do it especially if he lets it clear first

As far as I know the only cashier check scam going is fake cashier checks
