Default Hundreds paddle from Bimini to Lake Worth raising money for cystic fibrosis

Thought this was pretty cool.

Approximately 220 paddlers will take the long-distance endurance paddle board challenge along with Schwartz, who hopes to become the youngest person to complete the crossing and the first with cystic fibrosis, to go the whole distance. "I used to row and it feels like rowing for me, very relaxed, calm, and when I go out there I just find my happy place ... a Zen place for me, I just love it," Schwartz said.Mudge, who was joined on the water by about 200 others, says the turnout was overwhelming.

Friends and family gathered at Lake Worth beach Saturday to welcome home more than 200 people who made the journey from Bimini in the Bahamas to Lake Worth, paddling every mile.

Ben Mudge’s journey started in Northern Ireland where he lives.

His next stop was the Bahamas where shortly after midnight he started the 80-mile trek to South Florida.

“Once you get in the water, your team keeps you going,” Mudge said. “It’s electric. It’s amazing.”

This is Mudge’s second year participating in the long-distance paddle board challenge.

“It felt like you were fighting for every single stroke that you got and if you took a break for more than two seconds, you were getting pushed back.”

With every stroke, hopefully pushing closer to finding a cure for a genetic disorder he lives with every day.

“I have cystic fibrosis myself so the search for a cure and all the money that is going towards it and the awareness; it’s massive for me,” Mudge said.

The journey is all part of the 4th annual Crossing for a Cure, benefiting the Piper’s Angels Foundation. The nonprofit was started by Travis Suit whose daughter Piper was diagnosed with the deadly lung disease when she was just four years old.

“All of the proceeds go to families suffering from financial difficulties that are inflicted with cystic fibrosis,” said organizer Jennifer Napolitano.

Wow, that's incredible! I wonder what the safety and logistics are doing this event?

We did provide tracking service for the chase boats (80+) for this event. It is a great cause and has grown exponentially in the past couple years, I believe they raised over $600k this year! here is some shots of the boats as they crossed:
